Abbotsbury Swannery is the world’s only managed colony of nesting Mute Swans, located on the stunning Dorset coast. Home to over 600 free-flying Mute Swans, it offers a calm and peaceful environment surrounded by natural beauty. This one-of-a-kind experience is both relaxing and fascinating for visitors of all ages.

Visitors can enjoy mass daily swan feeds at midday and 4pm, where they can even help feed the swans. Explore the Swan Maze, shaped like a giant swan, with activities and a large woven willow egg at its centre. The Swannery also sits on a nature reserve at the Fleet Lagoon, rich in wildlife and a vital habitat for many species.

Standard entry is £13.95 for adults and £7.50 for children aged 5–15, while children under 5 enter for free. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more and with season tickets.

  • Mass daily swan feeds: There are daily mass swan feeds at midday and 4pm that visitors can join in. The Swannery team arrive with wheelbarrows, scoops and ask for willing volunteer visitors to help feeds the swans. A special and unique experience a must-do for any visit to the Swannery. The feed is accompanied by a commentary with more information about the Mute Swans.
  • The Swan Maze: Created from living willow, the swan maze celebrates the swans and the landscape. Planted in 2008 the maze in the shape of a giant swan and at the centre is a three-metre woven willow egg. With fun activities weaved in the maze, it is also a valuable habitat for animals and birds.
  • Nature reserve: The Swannery is located at the Northwestern end of the Fleet - the longest tidal lagoon in the British Isles. The Fleet has extensive Eelgrass beds - an important food source for the swans and many other waterfowl. The salinity of the lagoon varies from pure seawater at the Portland end to freshwater at the Abbotsbury end. 
  • Gift Shop: The beautiful Gift Shop has a range of toys, books, stationery, and souvenirs to remember a visit to the Swannery.
