Lulworth Castle a striking Jacobean hunting lodge, built in around 1608 in the fashionably retro castle style. The ancestral home of the Weld family, it was ravaged by fire in 1929, but has been partly restored in a pioneering partnership with English Heritage. 

You can climb a tower for panoramic views of coast and countryside, enjoy woodland walks in the parkland, and discover the Anglican church and unique Roman Catholic chapel, disguised as a domed garden temple and still in use.

  • Bus Access: The nearest bus stop is Lulworth Camp, 2 miles / 3 km from the Castle. Four local bus services call at Lulworth Camp: First service X50, First service X54, moreBus Jurassic Breezer 30 and moreBus Jurassic Breezer 31.
  • Train Access: Wool Station (5 miles / 9 km) is the most convenient railhead for Lulworth, with all 4 bus routes listed above calling at Wool Station (Stop A). For those travelling by train from Bristol, Bath or Westbury, Weymouth Station (17 miles / 27km) may be more convenient. Morebus Breezer Bus 30 and First Bus X54 depart from Weymouth King’s Statue, 10 minutes walk from Weymouth Station.
