Description
Chester Zoo is one of the biggest and most popular zoos in the UK, home to over 37,000 animals from around the world. It's a great place for families to explore nature, learn about wildlife, and enjoy fun outdoor experiences. The zoo is spread across 128 acres and features themed habitats like the new Heart of Africa, Monsoon Forest, and Islands.
Visitors can see animals such as elephants, giraffes, lions, orangutans, penguins, and many more. The zoo also offers river boat rides, five adventure play areas, tropical greenhouses, and behind-the-scenes animal experiences.
Ticket prices vary based on when you visit, but online prices usually start around £34 for adults and £26 for children. There are discounts for members, families, and group bookings.
Chester Zoo also hosts birthday parties for kids aged 4–11, which include zoo tours, food, games with a Zoo Ranger, and a gift for each child. Seasonal events like animal trails, educational talks, and conservation days are held throughout the year.

Plants & Gardens: Chester Zoo is home to thousands of plants, including 5 national collections. Many of the plants we care for are critically endangered and we’re committed to protecting these species both here in our zoo and through our global field projects.
Tours: The zoo offers a variety of guided tours including the Early Access Bird Photography Tour, Secret Life of the Zoo Tour, Elephant House Tour, and The Predator Tour. These tours cater to different age groups, have limited group sizes, and start from £20, with zoo entry included for the day.
