There are also hands-on Keeper Courses for those wanting to experience life as a zookeeper.

We can learn so much from them, but it’s such a lot of fun that we don’t even realise we’re learning. Blackpool Zoo has a diverse range of species, having over 1000 animals in our care including Asian elephants, gorillas, orangutans, lions, tigers, penguins, giraffes and sea lions to name a few.
  • Playbarn: Blackpool Zoo's Playbarn is a great addition to your day out or just bring the kids along for a run round and loads of fun! It is a huge three level playbarn with giant slides, ball cannons, ball showers, multi-level play opportunities and a new dedicated toddler area.
  • Dinosaur Safari: Come face to face with the terrifying tyrannosaurus rex, mighty marine reptiles, awesome pterodactyls and more than 30 other stunning prehistoric creatures. Your Dinosaur Safari will take you through 4 ages, over running streams and even behind a living curtain of water.
  • Elephant Base Camp: Project Elephant Base Camp represents the single biggest investment in the history of Blackpool Zoo. . The indoor area is now the largest in the UK, with state of the art equipment and facilities, while the outdoor area comprises of sanded areas, a bathing pool and a landscaped grass paddock.
  • Animal Habitats: There’s so much to discover at our Animal Habitats. We know how much you enjoy discovering new things about our animals, so we’ve designed our habitats for just that purpose. All your favourite animals are included, whether it’s the giraffes, elephants, gorillas or tigers that you prefer. 
  • Keeper Courses: Want to learn more about some of our incredible animals and what it takes to be a zoo keeper? Then our Keeper Courses are for you! During these action-packed courses, each student will have the opportunity to participate in various zookeeper tasks, from mucking out to building some animal enrichment and gaining some hands-on experience.
  • Daily Talks: This summer, visit our Kids' Discovery Zone, which is packed with bugs, bones, and brilliant discoveries! Kids can touch, learn, and explore by getting hands-on with animal artefacts, up-close mini-beast encounters, and exciting hidden surprises!

  • By Bus: Blackpool Transport's service 5B is a link from South Shore to Blackpool Town Centre and the Zoo, running from Halfway House to Victoria Hospital before heading to the Zoo every 60 minutes.
  • By Car: Follow the M6 to junction 32 and take the M55 to junction 4, then follow the ‘brown elephant’ signs to the zoo. From the town centre or promenade, follow the ‘brown elephant’ signs. For your sat nav, our postcode is FY3 8PP.
  • By Train: Trains run to two stations in Blackpool: We recommend Blackpool North Station which is a 5 minute walk from the town centre, from where you can take the bus or a taxi to the zoo. Blackpool South Station is about 3 miles from the Zoo.
