Features

  • Castle: Balmoral Castle began construction in 1853, following the purchase of the estate by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1852. The original castle, a 16th century tower house, was too small to accommodate Victoria and Albert’s family and so a new castle was commissioned.
  • The Gardens: Originally developed under Prince Albert’s keen supervision, these historic and regal gardens are a living piece of history, reflecting generations of royal dedication to preserving and enhancing the natural environment. His Majesty, King Charles III is renowned for his passion for gardening, commitment to sustainability and has played a pivotal role in the gardens’ continued evolution.
  • Cairns Walk & Prince Albert's Pyramid Walk: During August and September the grounds are closed to the public. However our gift shop and terrace cafe at the main gates will be open daily from 1000 until 1600.
  • Exhibitions: The Ballroom has featured renowned art installations, displayed rare and unique collections of His Majesty King Charles III’s paintings, and gives an opportunity to present and highlight new developments on the estate.
