CREATIVE ARTS
Artistic Performance Team will be an extensive exploration of performance skills as performers, musicians and will develop their creative intelligence, giving all students a well-rounded set of skills that will serve them well for higher education and to excel in the creative arts industry.

MATHS
Mathematics is crucial for everyday life. It underpins most of science, technology, finance and engineering. We want pupils to appreciate the beauty and power of mathematics, and develop curiosity and enjoyment of it. At Woodlands we want pupils to enjoy the challenge of Mathematics. We want students to be confident that they can think critically, and engage in regular problem solving to allow them to apply their skills in real life. We want pupils to understand data in the world around them and be able to reason and communicate Mathematically. But above all we want them to be numerate, confident, enjoy Mathematics and experience success in the subject, whatever their ability.

ENGLISH
English is a cornerstone to both our pupils' studies throughout their academic lives and their opportunities away from Woodlands. The subject will develop the key skills in reading, writing and oracy which will stay with the pupils for a lifetime. Through our curriculum, we hope to develop a love of the English language and help to shape pupils who are inquisitive, creative and independent thinkers.  Our curriculum will give the pupils the opportunity to explore relevant social issues and to consider real world situations.

HUMANITIES
At Woodlands School, we have a thriving Humanities faculty which offers our pupils a varied and enriching curriculum, which aims to develop our young people into well-rounded, well-informed individuals who are highly literate, excellent orators and experts in their subjects. At Key Stage Three, all pupils will study History, Geography and PSHRE.

SCIENCE
The aim is to stimulate an interest and enjoyment of Science in a positive and encouraging learning environment. We aim to ensure every child achieves academic excellence and we are very proud of our Science curriculum which has been developed to ensure every child can succeed. Year 10 and 11 Students are supported in reaching their targets and aspirations by Interventions sessions. Pupils are encouraged to ask questions and to seek answers through practical and investigative group work. We support the school’s ethos to foster a ‘can do’ and resilient approach to every challenge and to develop an empathy and understanding for our local community. Further curricula opportunities are provided through our Science and STEM Clubs and our students have successfully taken part in Regional and National STEM competitions and challenges such as the Autonomous Vehicle challenge, where our students had to design and build a Model car run by their computer programme and the Rocket Challenge.
