Unicorn School

Description

Unicorn School is Independent Primary school in Richmond upon Thames for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )

Unicorn School was founded in 1970 by a small group of local parents and teachers who wanted to create a school that offered children a rounded education, encouraging them to flourish creatively and to enjoy the process of learning, in a safe and happy environment. This ethos remains as strong today as it was at the beginning, with a curriculum that covers so much more than the core subjects. The breadth of opportunities on offer for the children, supported by talented and dedicated staff, ensures every child can find areas of personal strength and particular enjoyment. The school focuses on developing social skills, resilience and a love of learning at all ages. In the Early Years and Infant classes this is through educational play, believing that children whose curiosity is nurtured will enable them to thrive as they progress through the school. In the Juniors there is an emphasis on classes being communities of enquiry, and this learning style is complemented by discrete lessons in philosophy, brain-time and reasoning.

Creative arts
Lessons in art and design and drama are linked to class projects. Work is displayed all around the school and in class assemblies. As well as class music lessons, children can enjoy singing lessons and learn from a choice of ten or so different instruments.

PE
They participate in national IAPS tournaments in a range of sports and compete against other local schools in games and swimming.
