Facilities

Nursery
Tockington Manor Nursery is a very happy place. They focus on child centred 'learning through play' and provide experiences that are carefully planned to ensure each child is achieving their best. The Nursery is set in a beautifully converted barn within the school grounds.  Refurbished in 2017 and furnished with the very best equipment for early years learning, the large rooms are fresh and bright and provide the space for every child to comfortably join in with activities.  They encourage each child to learn through 'hands on' experience overseen by their dedicated Nursery Practitioner who is specially trained to nurture and extend the development of every child.

Lower School
Tockington Manor Lower School encompasses Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. The Reception and Year 1 classrooms are on the ground floor of the Meade Building, with Year 2 up a short flight of stairs on the first floor.  All classrooms are bright and airy and have immediate access to the outdoor space.  Each classroom is furnished with equipment for teaching and learning, specially designed to deliver the Early Years and Key Stage 1 curriculums.

Upper School
The aim is to provide the highest possible standard of education and to help the children develop their key skills in literacy and numeracy, and across our broad curriculum.  Through nurturing the children's skills in observation and information seeking, and developing their ability to pose questions and solve problems, by the time they leave us a Tockington child is a confident learner.  They deliver a broad and balanced curriculum that is geared toward educating the whole child, and as such the children achieve levels way above the targets set by Government in numeracy and literacy

Features

Things to note

Extracurricular & Clubs
At Tockington Manor School we aim to 'make the most of every moment' and use our extensive facilities to the maximum. Tockington Manor School-133Being a non-selective school the aim is to foster the curious mind and develop confidence in all the children, through offering a multitude of different experiences from which the children can identify where their interests and talents lie.  As such they offer a wide range of clubs before, during and after school, there's sure to be something for everyone.  Please note: the list of clubs on offer changes on a termly basis.

Sport
Exercising every day is incredibly important to us, and as we have extensive sports facilities within our 28 acre site this is easy to achieve.  With a 25m heated indoor swimming pool, dual pitch all-weather floodlit astro turf, club standard cricket wicket with modern cricket pavilion, numerous rugby/football pitches, 2.5km cross country running trails, running track there is ample opportunity for children to discover a sport they can excel in.Learning to play as part of a team, as well as perform successfully as an individual has culminated in an excellent record of sporting achievements including 3 national champions within the last 3 years

Drama
Drama has an integral role within the school curriculum, and throughout the year various productions take place from short pieces presented at morning assembly or in class through to full-scale musicals involving the entire school. We are extremely proud of our whole school musicals, they are particularly beneficial to our Year 7 and Year 8 children who will have the chance to audition for the lead roles (it would be unlikely for this age group to play a lead if they were in a senior school).  Several of our past pupils have gone on to perform in London's West End.

Music
Taught by the specialist Music Teachers, all children benefit from whole class music lessons.  Over the years we have invested in purchasing a wide range of musical instruments that are readily available for use meaning each and every child can 'have a go'.  Children often go on to achieve wonderful things including high grades in ARSBM and Trinity exams.  In the past a number of children have gone onto perform in the National Youth Choir and gained scholarships to senior schools.

Dance
Boys and girls between the ages of three and ten take part in class dance/drama lessons. The aim is to use the body in a rhythmical and expressive way, using a variety of stimuli.  Pupils are encouraged to participate at their own level and, where they demonstrate particular interest and talent further specialist tuition can be made available.Visiting dance teachers provide tuition in Ballet, Tap and Limbering Jazz Dance and if they wish children can be entered to the Children’s Grade Examinations of the Royal Academy of Dancing.
