Welcome to the Tiffin School website. Tiffin is a unique, vibrant and exciting school, which inspires students to not only achieve academically, but to develop, as rounded individuals, their talents, skills, interests, personalities and whole character, enabling them to successfully progress in the wider world. Tiffin is a large, successful and extremely popular school, with approximately 1400 students including 500 in the Sixth Form. With the School being formed in Kingston in 1880, and its origins going back to the seventeenth century, Tiffin has a long history of providing a top class education. Although proud of our heritage, Tiffin is also a forward thinking, outward looking, and dynamic institution, aiming to prepare our students for their future lives in our modern society. Our change to a mixed Sixth Form, our move to individual student Chromebooks and use of Google Classroom, and our significant investment in premises and resources, are all indicative of our continual desire to further enrich, adapt and improve the educational environment and opportunities that Tiffin School can offer to its students.
Sixth Form
Tiffin is delighted to admit every year large numbers of new students into the Sixth Form, including girls as well as boys, allowing the fantastic benefits and quality of Tiffin Sixth Form to be delivered within a mixed environment. We currently have about 150 girls in the Sixth Form, representing about 30% of the year groups.
Curriculm
The School believes that the curriculum should reflect our vision and aims by providing an ambitious and stimulating experience for all students, and that the term curriculum should be understood in its broadest sense by comprising all learning and other experiences planned for our students.
Co Curriculum
The co-curriculum of wider opportunities are an essential part of Tiffin life. All students belong to a House and take an active role in the House Championship, working closely with students of different ages and experiences. Running alongside this is an extensive and ambitious range of sports teams, musical ensembles, arts groups, clubs and societies, which meet before school, at morning break, during the long lunch break, after school, in the evening and at weekends. Most of the co-curricular activities are run by staff in their areas of expertise and enthusiasm; many are led by the students themselves, several of whom have set up their own groups.
Music
Tiffin has a national reputation for exceptional music-making. Central to its success is an imaginative, popular and inclusive programme of classroom music lessons, which supports a wide range of co-curricular opportunities. Each year, Tiffin musicians typically present more than fifty performances, ranging from concerts of major choral and orchestral works (recently including Bach St. John Passion and Mendelssohn Elijah), to chamber music recitals, jazz evenings and music theatre. Visit the introductory, news, performance, and media pages of the Tiffin Music Tiffin Music site for the latest news and media.
Sports Centre and MUGA
Sports Centre is available for community use after 6.00 pm on weekdays in the school term and on all weekends. We also have a MUGA available for hire during the same times. During the school holidays these facilities are available for hire during the day and we often have sports camps running during the holidays.
