The Ursuline Prep School Ilford is Independent Primary school in Redbridge for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )

They are an established Roman Catholic independent school and nursery for boys and girls from the ages of 3 to 11, and part of the worldwide network of Ursuline schools. At Ursuline Prep School we aim to give each child the best possible start in life. We are a small school that provides a friendly, secure, happy and stimulating environment and are extremely proud of each and every one of our pupils

Facilities

Religious Education
They pride ourselves on reflecting the multicultural community of learners that make up our school. The aim is to promote the spiritual, moral, social, cultural and intellectual development of pupils. We do this by exploring a range of religion and human experiences which raise fundamental questions of belief and value. Religious Education makes a key contribution to promote 'British values' and to prepare pupils for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to ask questions and to recognise the rights of others to hold their own views.

Mathematics
They aim to foster a positive fascination and excitement in mathematics where all children feel they can achieve. We aim to develop an attitude to mathematics which is beyond simply written assessments. We aim to have a cohesive vision with parents through events and workshops and creating a higher profile through displays, competitions and celebrations of achievement.

English
The English lessons are based on best practice outlined in both the Foundation Stage guidance and the National Curriculum. English is taught for five hours each week across the whole school. During these sessions there are a wealth of opportunities for our pupils to develop their writing, reading, grammar, punctuation, spelling and handwriting skills.

Science
They have hands-on, investigative experiences, through a child-led approach. This allows our pupils to retain and develop their natural sense of curiosity about the world around them. The Science curriculum allows us to develop a set of attitudes, which will promote scientific ways of thinking, including open-mindedness, perseverance, objectivity and a recognition of the importance of teamwork.

Modern Languages
Modern Languages is an essential part of our children's learning, to provide them with a valuable educational, social and cultural experience, and to lay the foundation for future language learning. They aim to introduce children to another language in a way that is enjoyable and fun, and to stimulate and encourage children's curiosity about language. We teach French from Years 2 to Year 5 and introduce Spanish in Year 6.

Design Technology
Through the Design Technology lessons, we aim to develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and for our pupils to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world.

Geography
Everything in our lives is Geography. We aim to inspire our children's curiosity and fascination about the world and its people by giving them knowledge of diverse places and understanding of key physical and human processes. They encourage them to observe, make connections, explain and evaluate the things they see in order to have a better understanding of the world in which they live.

Features

Things to note

Music
It is becoming better known that music helps a child's development in many ways. Music helps children to make connections between creative and analytical thinking; it helps develop the ability to process and retain information and improves a child's hand-ear-eye co-ordination. Music can encourage a feeling of empathy and emotional awareness as well as improve a child's ability to concentrate.

Art
Art is a wonderful medium for expression, exploration and imagination. We aim to stimulate children's creativity and imagination by providing visual, tactile and sensory experiences. These help to develop children's understanding of colour, form, texture and pattern and their ability to use materials and processes to communicate ideas, feelings and meanings. Our pupils explore ideas and meanings in the work of artists, craftspeople and designers in their own lives and in different times and cultures.

Sport
Sport is recognised as a vehicle for healthy living, as an opportunity to engage, learn and develop holistically, and as a means in itself for fun and fulfilment. They aim for all our pupils to gain a high level of physical fitness and learn and understand the importance of leading a healthy and active lifestyle. We do this by improving individual ability, providing new skills and active problem solving. We promote positive attitudes for all our pupils towards participation and provide a varied and enjoyable experience of physical activities.
