The Moat School

Description

The Moat School is Independent Secondary school in Non-selective for kids aged 9 to 21 (Gender - 9 to 21 )

Here at Burlington House School they understand that each and every one of our pupils is different – and that you know your child better than anybody else. That’s why the teaching is tailored to each individual and why they put you and your child’s needs at the centre of everything we do. The Burlington House School experience is about much more than academic performance, they're here to help raise independent, confident, inspiring young adults who can reach their potential in whatever path they choose. They’re extremely proud of the fact that the students achieve more with us than they might once have believed. Combined with a growth in confidence, natural abilities, and self-esteem – the students go on to successfully achieve in further and higher education settings, and to realise their professional ambitions.

Facilities

Prep
From an early point in my teaching career, they realised that not every child learns in the same way or at the same time. Just like popcorn kernels don’t all ‘pop’ at the same time, there are those children that require a different approach to learning. Whether there is a specific learning difference or not, all children can benefit from a learning environment where their strengths are encouraged and celebrated, and their challenges are supported by a dedicated staff.Early intervention is key for those children who are struggling to read, write or understand mathematics and our aim is to support and encourage the children on their learning journey.

Senior
Throughout my career, one observation has guided them more than any other: that pupils will show you their strengths if you let them. This philosophy shapes everything we do here at Burlington House Senior School. They are a small school, absolutely jam packed with ideas, ICT, initiative, intelligence and integrity, allowing us to nurture strengths and support areas of difficulty for each individual pupil. The specialist staff guide our pupils through the demands of the curriculum with ingenuity and enthusiasm, and the Enrichment Curriculum ensures that the pupils have ample opportunities to experience success in a wide range of skills, allowing confidence to grow.

Sixth Form
The Sixth Form is now two years old, and they believe they are well on our way to being the best option for students who wish to complete their Sixth Form studies in an atmosphere of true inclusivity within an adult learning environment.Leaving school and choosing a Sixth Form or College can be an anxious time for students and parents alike but from very positive recent student and parental feedback They believe we have found the right mix. When they say that they believe we have found the right mix, they use the following examples to reinforce what I mean. About half of our Sixth Form is made up of students progressing on from the Senior School, the other half are from external schools and colleges. Some of the students have come from huge schools and have a love of football or music, but have never played in a team or been in a band. When they join us, we will create a football team and get our students to join the Sixth Form band – The Enzo’s.
