Curriculum
The curriculum of our school is a reflection of our school ethos, vision and ambition. The Douay Way is to seek to educate the whole person and to support all students and develop resilient hardworking ‘can do’ young people. We seek to do this by offering a broad, balanced and challenging curriculum for Years 7 to 13. All students follow a core curriculum in Key Stage 3 and 4 which includes Religious Education and what are sometimes called the Ebacc subjects. In addition, students study a range of technological and creative subjects as well as physical education. In Key Stage 4 students are guided to choose from appropriate pathways. The post-16 curriculum is based on the same principles. Sixth form students choose from a range of subjects that support them on their journey to Higher Education or employment.
Sixth Form
The Douay Martyrs Sixth Form offers high quality education and training to students aged 16–19 years old. The students in our Sixth Form have had outstanding results with students making excellent progress between GCSE and A Level. Sixth Form is a place where all our students can enjoy success in a friendly and supportive environment. Teachers and students work in a partnership and we have high expectations, and we believe that by working together we can ensure the best possible results for each individual. We offer a wide range of A-Level and Vocational courses, which run over 2 years. We also provide numerous opportunities for students to get involved with wider learning, leadership, volunteering, charitable and community projects.
Enrichment
They believe that to demonstrate the Douay Way they must aspire for our students to learn in a way that goes well beyond the traditional classroom. Our curriculum vision encompasses every experience students gain from the first day of year seven until their last day with us. We believe that our role is to educate the whole child, to provide spiritual, emotional, cultural, financial and digital education to our highest possible ability, alongside that of the traditional curriculum.
