The Haberdashers' Aske Boys School
1.12 miles
Within this caring and well-disciplined community, set in over 110 acres of Hertfordshire countryside within the M25 yet only 13 miles from central London, it is the aim that each pupil should be known as an individual and encouraged to develop their all-round gifts to the full.Founded as a traditional boarding school in 1597, Aldenham today offers both Day, Boarding and Flexi-Boarding options for girls and boys on the same original glorious site with easy access to central London and all that the capital offers. Pupils are able to enjoy the best of both worlds; the wide open spaces allow room to breathe, without any feeling of isolation.
Academic
The academic programme at Aldenham seeks to offer our pupils a breadth and diversity that allows them to develop in interesting ways. The pupils at Aldenham will expect to be developed in a whole range of stimulating ways. Whilst we do of course provide excellent teaching in all the core areas of the national curriculum, they are equally delighted to be able to offer more than the bare bones of what is prescribed. The wide range of courses will enable students to gain skills and interests which they may not have had the opportunity to acquire elsewhere. Each pupil will also have the support of a personal Tutor who will look after every aspect of their life at school, in consultation with their Housemaster / Housemistress and other House staff.
Sport
One of the aspects of a UK independent education that is so striking to people around the globe is the absolutely central role that school sport, and especially team sport, plays in school life. In other countries sport plays its part, but usually beyond the school gates, whilst in a school like Aldenham the routine of sports matches is a prime part of our programme. For those seeking independent schools with a strong sporting tradition, Aldenham is well suited, with an excellent variety of activities on the curriculum, including Football, Hockey, Netball, Cricket, Sailing, Rounders and Athletics.
Art
The Art Department enjoys excellent facilities including a purpose-built cabin for A Level students which offers spacious, individual work areas, outstanding natural light and a beautiful exhibition space.
