Things to note

  • Fun PE and Games lessons take place weekly in either the Prep School’s purpose-built and designed gymnasium or on extensive games fields and pitches.
  • Benefitting from great music and drama facilities, including specialist Music Suite, Pre-Prep boys and girls enjoy a weekly 40-minute Music and Drama lesson taught by Director of Music, and specialist Music teachers.
  • Clubs run after school from 3.45pm until 4.30pm and are run by Pre-Prep teachers and specialist teaching staff. And the good news is most of the clubs are included in your fees.
  • Adventures and trips are designed to give Pre-Prep girls and boys a better understanding of the world around them by exploring their immediate environment, such as Forest School, and the possibilities beyond. And with the added thrill of travelling in school bus, every trip is an exciting adventure.

Admission Details

NURSERY (AGED 0-4):  The Head of Pre-Prep and Nursery is Louise Leah. Louise is delighted to have the opportunity to lead thriving Pre-Prep and Nursery and to build on the first-class educational experience and happy environment enjoyed by children. Louise was previously Head of Reception and Nursery at Kingswood School in Bath. She brings a wealth of experience in a variety of different educational environments, including being an assessor of trainee teachers for Bath Spa University and working as a teacher at Clayesmore Senior School in Dorset. Prior to that, she ran her own very successful Nursery called BabyGrows in Dorset.

PRE-PREP (AGED 4-7): The Head of Pre-Prep and Nursery is Louise Leah. PREP (AGED 7-13): Many of Prep students begin their educational journey at Taunton School and have progressed from Nursery through to Pre-Prep before joining Prep School. However, they warmly welcome admissions to Taunton Prep School from age 7-13, which is school years 3-8. SENIOR & SIXTH FORM: The main ages of admission to the Senior School are 13 (Year 9) and 16 (Year 12/Lower Sixth), but entry into other year groups is also possible. No entrance examination is required, and selection is based on an interview (in person where possible), report and reference. Admission may also be gained by scholarship entry. Students joining the Sixth Form will be expected to attain a minimum of five GCSE passes at grade 9-5, and for those not taking recognised exams, there are assessment tests. Please note that some subjects will require higher grades for entry than others. Please note that it may be possible for International students to join one of the ‘Taster’ courses, subject to availability. Taster courses run for a full term in the Autumn term of each year and are offered for our Pre-GCSE, GCSE, A Level and IB programmes. Students who sign up for these courses are expected to confirm any extension of their study no later than half-term in the Autumn term.

INTERNATIONAL (AGED 7-18): Depending on age and level of English, International students will enter the Pre-Prep, Prep, Senior or International Schools, where they offer the greatest range of educational pathways at secondary level as compared to any other school in the UK.
