Nursery
The inviting Nursery setting at St Christopher’s has a dedicated indoor and outdoor space, in the heart of the school. Children from the age of rising three (the beginning of the term in which their 3rd birthday falls) can take advantage of the numerous opportunities, facilities, activities and resources on offer in beautiful surroundings.We offer a happy, calm and safe environment which is also stimulating and fun. Small class sizes and access to specialist teaching staff for subjects such as Music, French and Sport and Activities, really supports the children’s early learning, and needs, and allows them to flourish.
Prep School
One of the main aims at St Christopher’s is to ensure the pupils experience a school where they feel safe and secure. They provide the children in the care with a supportive and nurturing environment with a strong pastoral system at its heart. The Form Tutors are vital is ensuring that pupils are happy and settled at school and liaise closely with the different subject teachers.Although a Christian School, they welcome students from all faiths and none. Regular assemblies will help children to share experiences, broaden their horizons and establish a strong set of values.
Extra Curricular
As well as the broad range of subjects included in the school timetable, they also offer a comprehensive range of extra-curricular options. The last part of the school day (3.45-4.25) is dedicated to activities, which are delivered on a rotational basis so that every child is given the opportunity to experience all the options. These activities include :Chess, Cookery, Modern Dance, Spanish Club, Farm Club, Table Tennis, Debating, Quiz Club and Fencing. This offer is reviewed regularly to introduce new concepts and keep the options fresh and exciting.
Dance
Acro Dance lessons are offered for all year groups by our visiting peripatetic teacher Faye Preston. Acro Dance is the beautiful fusion of the artistic motion of dance and athleticism of acrobatics. With unique choreography, Acro brings together classic dance styles with acrobatic movements. This fun class follows the world renowned Acrobatic Arts syllabus.
Peripatetic Music
The benefits of learning a musical instrument are widely known and therefore, in addition to music in the classroom, they currently have five visiting teachers offering the following one-to-one lessons: Piano, Violin, Cello, Flute, Recorder, Drums, Guitar (Electric & Classical) and voice. Children are able to have a taster lesson on an instrument before deciding if they would like to commit to learning. Lessons are weekly and are rotated so that they can be fitted into the school day.
