Facilities

  • They offer all pupils with a range of special educational needs an opportunity to flourish in a bespoke, personalised environment.
  • They are committed to raising achievement and enabling pupils to recognise their own potential through a personalised, relevant and engaging curriculum. The priority is to meet four fundamental needs of students: Healthy relationships, emotional resilience, tolerance and respect and ambition.

Features

Things to note

  • The school operates from two main sites in South Devon and offers a wide ranging curriculum including academic and vocational programmes. The school sites offer a variety of well equipped and resourced areas in which to engage in different activities, subjects and learn new skills in small groups or one-to-one. There are areas to which pupils can go to chill out and calm down if they want to. They use other locations including intervention base to enhance the learning experience and to support pupils to develop real-life skills and establish links with the rural environment and local community. The facilities include well-resourced classrooms, sporting facilities, play areas and workshops.
  • The school takes a wholly positive approach to behaviour management and supports a culture of tolerance and respect. Each pupil’s support plan is carefully written and reviewed to identify the proactive and reactive strategies, early interventions and de-escalation techniques that work for each individual.
  • A specialist and dedicated team of professionals aim to ensure that every personalised programme combines the best of therapeutic intervention with a curriculum that truly reflects each student’s needs and interest and equips them to play a full part in life and work. These personalised programmes aim to restore young people’s self-confidence, self-esteem, self-control and self-motivation through a flexible, personalised and needs-led programme with absolute care, nurture and support.
