Facilities

Junior School
St Chris Junior School, for children aged 3 to 11, is comprised of a Nursery, a Reception class, and Years 1 to 6. The Junior School is a special place. We are proud of our children’s academic progress, their confidence, their love of learning, their care for themselves and each other and their insatiable capacity for fun.Two Nursery classes (Half Monte for children from the term they turn three, Top Monte the following year),  a Reception class and Years 1 to 6  are located in the dedicated Junior  School building. There is one class in each year until Year 5, where the year divides into two. Small classes are supported by a teaching assistant in each year group and class sizes are around 20.

Senior School
The Senior School begins at Year 7 and continues to Year 11, crucial years in the journey from childhood to adulthood, with children progressing on to the St Chris Sixth Form. For some, it can also be a little bit daunting, but at St Chris they have a team of highly skilled and experienced teachers ready to help and ensure that it is an enjoyable, successful and rewarding experience for everyone. They provide a close-knit, supportive environment that creates a rich and rewarding educational experience. All within the School are called by their first names and there is no uniform. This helps to build relationships based on trust, mutual respect and co-operation.

Sixth Form
St Chris Sixth Form is an inspiring and challenging place to learn. During the two years of Sixth Form pupils grow and develop both academically and socially, making the most of the unique environment and many opportunities available at St Chris. As well as following a rigorous academic programme, they encourage pupils to play an active part in wider aspects of school life – whether that be through a position of responsibility on the School Council or by taking part in the wide range of extracurricular activities on offerThe St Chris Sixth Form is based in its own Sixth Form Centre, which includes common rooms for Year 12 and Year 13, study areas, a garden, kitchen area and classrooms for specific A-level courses.

Things to note

Vertical Activities
From the very beginning at St Chris there is a strong sense of community and we find that children quickly get to know each other across the different year groups. The older children in the Junior School listen to the younger ones read. Senior School peer mentors help guide the Junior School Council. The Sixth Form spends some of their community service helping in Junior School classes. On Thursday afternoon Options in the Senior School, children work in vertical groups with children of all ages.

Junior School Activities
St Chris Junior School has a thriving extracurricular programme of activities to inspire and empower children to play, work and have fun together. There are a wealth of activities on offer in the Junior School both before and after school, as well as longer trips and visits each term.At St Chris they believe that the skills learnt and fun had within the extracurricular programme are fundamental to a fulfilled school life, and that they lead to happier, more well-rounded and confident children.

Senior Activities
Extracurricular activities play a fundamental role in school life at St Chris. There are a broad and exciting range of activities – and an inclusive atmosphere where pupils are encouraged to take full advantage of all of the opportunities on offer. On Thursday afternoons the whole school comes off timetable for the Options programme – which you can read more about here.
