St Bernard's Catholic Grammar School, Slough is a State Secondary School for kids aged 11 to 18 (Gender - Mixed)
In 1897, a group of Bernardine Cistercian Sisters arrived in Slough from France, to escape from religious persecution. They had found a house in Langley they thought might be suitable for a school. It was called Aldin House and had been built by Baroness Coutts, one of Queen Victoria’s ladies in waiting, in the 1860s. She never lived in it and sold it to the Reverend J Hawtrey who used the building as a Prep school for Eton College. He added the chapel and when he sold it in 1884, it was taken over by a Jesuit Community who lived there until 1890, from when it lay empty until the sisters arrived in July1897. At St Bernard’s School, students are educated in a nurturing community where each person is loved and valued. They aim to follow the example of the Bernardine Sisters in having prayer and worship at the centre of the lives. With God as the shelter, they strive to be of service to others and uphold the Christian values of love, forgiveness and compassion that Jesus taught them.

Pupils at St Bernard's Catholic Grammar School have a distinguished tradition of achieving academic excellence. The curriculum we provide reflects pupils’ own interests and we encourage them to develop strategies for personalised and independent learning from a very early age. the curriculum provides breadth and depth and allows pupils to choose subjects that reflect their own strengths. Outstanding teaching and learning ensure pupils are supported both in the classroom and beyond, to achieve their full academic potential. The provision as a centre of excellence for Gifted and Talented pupils has an outstanding reputation, with pupils making progress throughout their time in school. They have excellent links with our partner primary schools, other local secondary schools and various different universities and colleges. They understand that learning can take place in so many different situations both in and beyond the classroom. They have a sophisticated programme of extra-curricular and enrichment activities that supports pupils’ learning and enables them to become lifelong learners. The curriculum is organised into eight faculties, with a core curriculum of PHSCE, Literacy and Numeracy and MSSC values.
