St Anne's Church of England Lydgate Primary School is a State Primary School for kids aged 4 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )

At St. Anne`s they pride ourselves on the warm and friendly atmosphere and hope that new parents and children will quickly feel part of the school family. The high expectations match the high quality teaching and pastoral care the children receive, regardless of their starting points or abilities. This guarantees that they have a great beginning to their learning journey at the school. It is important to us that the children are happy, confident and resilient and enjoy their learning, making the most of all the opportunities they have to offer. They ensure that all learning is purposeful and linked to children`s own experiences so they are engaged, challenged and become highly effective problem solvers and communicators. The curriculum is creative, inclusive and exciting. It provides children with a broad range of learning experiences which seek to nurture talents and acquire new skills in a hands-on and engaging way. It is the aim for all children to have a deeper understanding of the world around them and to become responsible and caring citizens of the future. They hope that during their time with them your children will become confident, articulate, and inquisitive and endeavour to work in partnership with parents to achieve the very best provision for every individual.

Facilities

Outdoor Learning
At St Anne's CE Lydgate we recognise the rich potential of the outdoor spaces, within the school and importantly outside the school, to enhance our curriculum and really personalise it, to reflect who they the and where they fit into a larger community. The area of Saddleworth provides opportunities for tangible learning experiences. They visit Castleshaw at Delph, to learn more about the Roman's impact upon Britain and how they lived, utilising the Roman Fort situated there. In the same area we undertake mapping skills, working with specialist staff at the Castleshaw Centre, to extend our Geography experiences and add real impact to the skills acquired in this curriculum area. In year 5 the children undertake a Ghyll Scramble in a ravine near to Dovestones reservoir in Greenfield. The children also participate in a Star Walk, weather permitting, during the dark nights, where they are accompanied by expert astronomers from Todmorden Observatory in Rochdale. Equipped with headtorches and telescopes, our Space topic learning is brought to life with these purposeful experiences.

Things to note

Before and After School Club
The Before and After Care is based entirely on what the children want to do. Even though it is structured, the children are free to choose a range of activities and have the opportunity to use the outdoor and indoor facilities. They want the club to mirror a home environment, so there are a range of suitable activities which allow the children to socialise, relax and play. Craft work, jigsaws, table tennis,  I-pads, DVD’s, outside play & Lego  are just a few of the activities  available within the Club which is mainly situated in the school  hall. Children can also take advantage of the library  where they can read, use the I-pads, or complete homework if they so wish.
