“South”, as the school is affectionately Headteacher Chris Smithknown, is a high performing academy and, for many years, students of all abilities have achieved results at GCSE and A level above local and national averages. This Is because the progress that students make from their starting points in Year 9, is very good indeed. They know that the transition to High School, or into Sixth Form, is both an important and exciting phase in your educational lives and they hope that the prospectus, and this website, gives you an insight into what it is like to be a student here. They have high expectations of all the students, whatever their experience in middle or first school and aim to equip you with the skills and experience which will enable you to be successful in the next stage of your life beyond school. This may involve you moving into the very successful Sixth Form and on to University, or taking a route with more bespoke training, an apprenticeship or work-related study. Each year they learn of former students who are happy in their careers and who remind us that the foundations for their success were laid during their time with them.

Curriculum
They offer a broad and balanced curriculum at South across both Key stage 4 and Key stage 5. The curriculum caters for the needs of all learners with a wide range of options available from Year 9 through to Year 13. They continually review our curriculum to ensure continuity within key stages and progression towards higher education, training and employment.

At South Bromsgrove High they recognise and value the impact that the Arts curriculum can offer in the enrichment and personal development of all the students. The school has a long established tradition of excellence within the field of the Arts and we are committed to the provision of Arts education and experience through our curriculum and a rich and broad spectrum of extra-curricular opportunities. Inclusion and access for all students are core values in our Arts provision, and they pride ourselves on the scale and scope of the students’ involvement in arts activities. They believe that experiences in the arts encompass literature, performing arts, visual arts, art and design, media and multimedia. Arts education is provided within the school through the National Curriculum areas of Art and Design, Music, Dance, English Literature, Drama, Film and Media.
