RGS Dodderhill

Description

RGS Dodderhill Private School in Droitwich Spa, Worcestershire, offers nursery and Prep-School education for boys and girls aged 2 to 11, and a Senior School for girls only aged 11 to 16. The small, bespoke environment ensures your child develops a love of learning, grows in confidence and leaves equipped for his or her chosen future.

Facilities

The benefits of sport are not to be under-estimated: physical and mental wellbeing, health and fitness, teamwork, belonging and confidence to name just a few.

That’s why your child will be taught by specialist sports teachers from Nursery onwards. The focus initially is on the core skills and trying a variety of disciplines. Swimming is offered up to Year 6 to ensure that this important life skill is mastered.

One of the merits of a small school is the inclusivity it brings. From Year 3, your child will be able to compete and represent the School in sports such as netball, football, hockey, cricket, rounders, athletics and gymnastics. Excellent facilities and specialist coaching ensure success.

If your child prefers recreation to competition, lunchtime activities and after school clubs are all options to stay healthy and de-stress: fencing, dance, trampolining, horse riding, sailing, golf, cross country, tennis, rounders.

Features

Things to note

  • Your child will be taught music by subject specialists from Nursery through to Year 11. If he or she wishes to learn an instrument, they cater for most instruments: woodwind; strings and brass; piano; guitar and bass guitar; voice; drum kit; and ukelele.
  • From the first nativity play to the final whole school production, you child will have plenty of opportunities to be involved in performances here. Your child might play Annie in the eponymous production or be part of the crew responsible for lighting and stage set. He or she might sing in the chorus, play in the orchestra or have responsibility for costume changes and make up.
  • The second your child walks through the secret hedge tunnel to the enchanted wood, he or she is transported to another world. To your child, it’s just playing and having fun outside; they know that confidence is growing, along with imagination and physical ability through hands-on learning. Forest School has a covered area, fire circle and areas for digging and making mudpies. Your child might build dens, paint with mud, count logs, toast bread or learn how to meditate. All the while he or she will be building skills and enjoying the fresh air and nature so vital for wellbeing. Your child will attend Forest School at least weekly In Nursery, Reception and Pre-Prep. Regular visits continue in the Prep years.
  • Holiday Club at RGSW is open to children from the age of 2 to 13 years and they have a wonderful variety of activities for all ages with visiting entertainers, off-site visits, horse riding and bushcraft.
  • Step inside the Art room and you will be struck by the talent on display. In Fact, the standards are so high you’ll probably forget this is a school without a Sixth Form. Creativity and self-expression are encouraged from a very early age. Your child will learn the traditional skills of painting and drawing as well as print making, textiles, sculpture and photography.
  • At Dodderhill Ducklings they look after the whole family. Hot drinks and adult conversation for grown-ups; stimulating entertainment and the all-important snack for little people. Sessions are open to children from birth to the age of four and are held on Tuesday mornings from 9.30 am until 11.00 am in term time only. The cost is £4 per child and £1 per additional child. Music and movement, craft activities and free play, both indoors and outdoors, are included.
