Admission Details

Third & Fourth Forms (Years 9 & 10): In the Third Form, they are looking for an intake with a wide variety of qualities, interests and abilities, and the families who choose for their children provide with a rich seam of potential that gives the school its great breadth and diversity. In every respect they are quite a broad church at entrance (55% Common Entrance pass rate). 

13+ and 14+ applicants: 13+ and 14+ applicant take own entrance exams in Maths, English and French. Results will be communicated within 2 weeks of sitting the exams. 

16+ applicants: 16+ applicants take own entrance exams in four written papers of their choice, as well as being interviewed by one of the Admissions Tutors. 

Sixth Form (Year 12): They are looking for boys and girls who may already have strong and marked interests and abilities, but who also want to explore the breadth and variety of Sixth Form life at Shrewsbury and make a fine contribution to school life before proceeding to university and their chosen career.

  • The Alex Wilson Sport Scholarship is awarded annually to a boy or girl from a maintained school who is applying for a day place in the Sixth Form at Shrewsbury School.
