Runnymede St Edward's School is Independent Primary school in Liverpool for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )
Runnymede St Edward’s is steeped in history, having been established as a school in 1938. Today they continue to be inspired by the work of Edmund Rice, the founding Father, who was inspired by the Gospels to reach out to the destitute. With a group of friends, Edmund formed a religious congregation that sought to improve the lives of those made poor, via transformational education. Runnymede is part of a global network of schools who are united in the spirit of the Blessed Edmund Rice. Christian Brothers’ schools today are challenged by the story of Edmund as they seek to live out the gospel values in the competitive climate of today’s educational world. The school has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and is a great place to be, where children, staff, governors and parents benefit from being part of the Edmund Rice Community. Children are encouraged to be curious, asking questions of themselves and others to help them understand the how, what, where and why's of the world around them. We are committed to the highest standards of teaching and learning – achieved through a combination of challenge, support, encouragement and praise – to ensure that all pupils take pride in their achievements and the responsibility to fulfil their potential.
Curriculum
At Runnymede St. Edward’s Catholic Primary School, there is a strong Christian community where our intent is to inspire and challenge children; encouraging each child to use their talents to the full – striving for excellence. Through our ambitious curriculum, they want to empower the children to be curious and resilient, having a deep love and desire for learning. The curriculum ensures that pupils develop lively, enquiring minds where they question rather than merely accept. Promoting a spiritual curriculum allows all our children to appreciate, empathise, value and flourish, allowing them to evangelise the modern world.
Religious Education and RSHE
RE takes up 10% of the curriculum, but is not totally confined to lesson time. RE permeates the whole life and ethos of the school. The whole school explores the same theme but from different aspects, through year group topics on a one year cycle. This enables the children to celebrate their new experiences and understanding together whatever their age.The children will 'Explore' the topic in a way appropriate to their age range. Then they will come to the heart of the process, where they will 'Reveal' the Christian understanding of the mystery of God and human life as expressed in the person, life and gospel of Jesus Christ. The children will then 'Respond' to their new knowledge and understanding by celebrating together.
