Rugby School is a public school (English independent boarding school for pupils aged 13–18) in Rugby.

Facilities

  • SPORTS HALLS: Two multi sport halls with space for 6 badminton size courts in the main sports hall and the Collingwood Sports Hall is available to let on a whole basis. The halls can be divided into a variety of different combinations to suit an array of activities such as five-a-side football, netball, basketball and even Go-Karts.
  • SWIMMING POOL: 25 metre pool with an ascending depth of 1-2 metres and 6 lanes. The pool can be split into lanes to suit an array of activities such as aqua aerobics, canoe club and swimming lessons.
  • SQUASH: 3 squash courts which are available for member, non member and club use.
  • GYM: Fitness centre is fully equipped with a variety of cardio vascular, resistance, free weight and functional equipment. 
  • FIVES COURTS: 2 Rugby Fives courts.
  • ASTRO PITCHES: 2 floodlit astro pitches which can be set up and divided for a variety of activities and ideal for hockey, rugby and football. 
  • HOCKEY ASTRO: Dedicated hockey 3G astro pitch.
  • TENNIS COURTS: 3 competition tennis courts and 5 hard tennis courts which are floodlit. They also have 3 tennis courts which are not floodlit.
  • CRICKET: During the season they have numerous cricket wickets available including a first class pitch at New Big Side on The Close.
  • RUGBY: At the birthplace of the game, they offer numerous pitches for hire.

Things to note

  • Sport at Rugby is for everyone. And there are more than 25 physical activity clubs throughout the year, every day.
  • They also enter many national competitions at a lower tier level to allow students to experience the excitement of a UK-wide competition.
  • The sports science department, initially created to extend scholarship programme, has now been rolled out across the School. 
  • Like many other schools, they offer a wide range of performance opportunities throughout the year – from popular, large-scale Musical Theatre productions to new writing and experimental theatre and dance.
  • Music at Rugby School is exciting, diverse and of a remarkable standard. The department offers a wide range of opportunities for all students and helping them to reach their full potential, whatever their musical aspirations are.

For 13+ entry they recommend you arrange a suitable date to visit us from Year 5 or Year 6, while for 16+ entry preliminary visits usually take place from year 10. The next step is to complete and return registration form and Admissions Teams is here to offer support and advice throughout.

Fees

Boarder   £12,818 per term
Day Pupil   £8,042 per term

REGISTRATION FEE: £250 (except those applying for Foundation or Arnold Foundation Awards).

ENTRANCE FEE: £1,250 (except those applying for Foundation, or Arnold Foundation Awards).

OVERSEAS DEPOSIT: One term’s fees in advance. (Payable in addition to the Entrance Fee by parents of pupils whose normal residence is outside the United Kingdom).

FAMILY DISCOUNT: 5 per cent discount on net termly fees for a third child at Rugby. 7.5 per cent discount on net fees for fourth (and subsequent) child at Rugby. We ask families interested in admission to the School to register using the Registration Form included with the Prospectus package. A non-returnable fee of £250, payable to Rugby School, is charged on registration. About 18 months before entry parents are asked to pay the Entrance Fee of £1,250. Payment of this Fee constitutes on the parents’ part, a pledge that Rugby is their first choice of School.

Scholarships

Rugby School offers a range of Scholarship Awards which allow awardees to access extraordinary opportunities, enrichment and support through Scholars’ Programmes, and their parents to receive a fee discount.

Academic Scholarships are offered at 13+ (there are separate assessments for those studying the ISEB and National Curriculum) during the Lent term and at 16+ during the Advent term:

  • Art Scholarships are offered at 13+ during the Lent term and at 16+ during the Advent term
  • Computer Science Scholarships are offered at 13+ during the Trinity term and at 16+ during the Advent term
  • Design & Technology Scholarships are offered at 13+ during the Lent term and at 16+ during the Advent term
  • Music Scholarships are offered at 13+ during the Lent term and at 16+ during the Advent term
  • Performing Arts Scholarships are offered at 13+ and at 16+ during the Advent term
  • Sports Scholarships are offered at 13+ and 16+ during the Advent term

The value of a Scholarship is a fee concession of 5% which the parents or legal guardians may elect to accept.
