Curriculum
“The curriculum has knowledge at its heart: we want our students to experience the joy of learning, and they know that this helps them become confident, articulate and resilient young people. All the curriculum programmes are academically ambitious, but clear, carefully-planned teaching allows all children to succeed. We use widely-available programmes, such as Maths Mastery, where we believe they are highly effective; but more often, subject experts at our Trust’s Curriculum Centre have developed our own schemes of work, typically supported by our own textbooks, in subjects from Latin and history to English and science.They take the time to choose carefully what knowledge to teach, prioritising that which will be of the greatest value to our students in their later lives, and we work out how to teach it in a way that helps children to remember it and to understand how different parts of the curriculum are related to each other.”
Sixth form
“Phoenix Academy Sixth Form is an academic sixth form with the highest aspirations for its students. The vast majority of our sixth form teachers went to Russell Group universities and Oxbridge, and as such are perfectly placed to support our students to move onto the very best higher educational institutions.

Things to note
Sport
London Sports Trust run a host of sporting activities at Phoenix Academy during lunchtime and after school. Basketball, trampolining, football and table tennis are but a few of the many sports students enjoy.
The Arts
As part of Arts enrichment, we attend productions at the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith, as part of a relationship that has spanned many years. The Lyric supports us with free tickets and workshops and Phoenix Academy appreciates their interest to help our students as well as the support from other Arts Institutions.Students also attend productions at the Bush Theatre and Globe Theatre. They arrange visits to a host of world-class museums in London as well as outings to the Royal Academy and its fantastic exhibitions.
Societies
Historically they have had an excellent Student Council and this year has been no exception. Driving various initiatives, the Council has been behind our aim to ‘Go Plastic Free’ as well as assisting in fund-raising activities. Having had to adapt to mostly online meetings throughout this academic year the Student Council has pushed its Eco Campaign by striving to stop canteen disposables and introduce Phoenix Academy water bottles. It has also been at the forefront of ensuring that excellent food quality standards are maintained
Trips
External visits and trips are a vital aspect of expanding a young person’s experiences of the world and are a very important Enrichment tool. Learning and making memories on trips is a good way to motivate students in the classroom. Trips and visits bring real-world meaning to a student’s education.
