Oxford Montessori Schools is Independent Secondary school in Non-selective for kids aged 2 to 16 (Gender - 2 to 16 )
Every child has potential and to find it is our responsibility. The potential is a wonderful resource which should never be wasted. Discovering what you are good at is like getting all the keys to a happy and fulfilling life early. Dreams that become ambitions, and the skills and ability to think that are formed as we seek to pursue these, give shape and meaning to the way they see ourselves and interact with others. To pitch young people into a narrow competitive environment that dispenses with their creativity in pursuit of a narrow set of skills that are observable, testable under exam conditions, is limiting. Then to make that the final arbiter framing their life changes is wrong and a waste of precious resources. No one knows what tomorrow’s world will want from its young people; the economists can’t agree from one week to the next. The creative, the innovative, the single minded, the kind, the loyal, the rebellious, the myriad of personalities and characters that make up the future’s mix need a broader and more inclusive approach. So, they do not select on ability, but on the promise and expectation that each young person contributes to the community positively. They do not test formally until public examination at GCSE and even then we do it in a low-stress way, using the own small intimate exam settings.
Early Years
For children unable to attend nursery, their key persons endeavour to maintain regular contact with their children through phone conversations, Google Meets with the child/family and also video Circle Time and Storytelling, which parents access at their convenience.
Primary School
The Primary pupils receive face to face live learning 5 days per week for the duration of the school day.The teachers plan carefully balanced lessons - incorporating screen time, offline activities and physical sessions. The use of additional learning resources - specifically designed for online learning - ensures a variety of learning styles to take place throughout the school day. Teachers are in school and therefore children can see their classrooms and are able to see the familiar resources used in school online.
Senior School
As with the Primary School, pupils receive face to face live lessons 5 days per week for the duration of the school day. Each subject teacher is responsible for delivering a varied curriculum - from active Science investigations to explorative Duke of Edinburgh sessions! Teachers teach from the school site and therefore the senior students can see the familiar classrooms in the background and teachers have easy access to resources.
Creative Holiday Club
The Holiday Club is a beautiful rural provision, on the perimeter of Oxford; open to all ages from 3 years up to 12 years and beyond. They plan a variety of engaging, nature-based activities to make sure each day is enjoyable and inspiring; visiting all corners of the vast spaces, outside, and in. No matter how far the children have come to be here, friendships always blossom. Especially when the children return time and time again. Staff are carefully selected to maintain a high standard provision to ensure the primary objective of keeping the children safe and happy.
