Pre School
It is the intent that the children who enter our EYFS develop physically, verbally, emotionally, creatively, intellectually and spiritually whilst embedding a positive attitude to school and learning in order for each child to achieve their full potential. Early Years learning challenges children and encourages them to develop into independent, motivated learners and thinkers, full of curiosity about the world around them within a fun, happy and secure environment. In addition, taking full advantage of all the Pre-Prep facilities and to supplement the core EYFS curriculum, the Moulsford Pre-School in Oxfordshire offers opportunities for PlayBall, Music, Forest School and Yoga, which take place during the school day.
Pre Prep
tHE Pre-Preparatory School is driven by an overriding importance of ensuring every boy feels safe and secure within our environment to empower him to make the very most out of the stunning location, talented staff and the understanding of how to get the very best from boys. The class sizes naturally allow each boy to form solid friendships and effective working relationships with his teachers and assistants.A rich and varied curriculum provides stimulation and breadth of discovery, looking both to the past and to the future, preparing today’s boys for tomorrow’s world. Art, Judo, Drama, French and Spanish, Music, PE and Forest School are all taught by specialist teachers within our Pre-Prep. Individual music lessons can be arranged in a variety of instruments, for example piano, drums and guitar. All boys have weekly lessons in one of the ICT suites and use interactive technology daily in other lessons.
Prep
Everything at Moulsford is designed to suit boys, to extend and enrich learning at all levels, and to prepare them for their chosen senior schools at 13+ and life beyond.Independence in learning, self-discipline and taking responsibility are key, as is keeping a sense of fun! Creativity is encouraged in all aspects of preparatory school life. Whilst the focus naturally becomes more academic in the classroom, we know that it is the rounded education and wealth of opportunities that we offer which allow boys to achieve the best in their learning. We know our boys very well and small class sizes allow for a personalised educational experience.
ACTIVITIES
A wide range of activities are on offer after school. Boys can try something new, improve in an existing hobby, or simply do something for the fun of it! Activities are run by a combination of school staff and outside specialists who lead some of the activities. Activities change each term, however, we do change at half term in the Autumn Term to take into account the darker evenings.
TRIPS
Educational trips are an essential part of the curriculum and offer exciting opportunities to explore subjects outside of the classroom.Boys look forward to day and residential trips which enhance and broaden learning, as well as helping to develop independence and strengthen relationships - with plenty of fun thrown in too! Trips are carefully planned and co-ordinated between departments, and are closely supervised and evaluated by staff.
EXTRA CURRICULAR
The extra curricular activities on offer change every term, and at half term in the longer Autumn term. The river offers multiple water-based activities in the Summer term and first half of the Autumn, with kayaking and Stand Up Paddleboarding being ever popular. Other popular choices include ceramics, photography, fishing and climbing. Quirkiest are perhaps Parkour, the ever-popular Taskmaster, Spike Ball, Historical Re-enactments or Slack Lining.
