Features

Things to note

For girls to be all-rounded individuals' co-curricular activities need to be embraced alongside academic studies. Following the Activities Fair at the start of each academic year each girl works alongside her Form Tutor to explore the activities in which she would like to participate. Girls are also encouraged to start their own clubs and societies so they can share their interests with others. They help her to ensure a balance is struck between co-curricular and academic activities, and between developing existing interests and talents and encouraging girls to step out of their comfort zone and try new activities. By raising expectations and personal horizons, girls at Malvern St James grow in self-belief, self-esteem and confidence. They leave School poised and articulate, with the aspiration and skills to achieve in the challenging world that exists beyond School. Malvern St James recognises universities and employers are looking for highly developed: thinking skills, independent learning skills, creative skills, leadership skills, flexible skills, communication skills, inter-personal skills, personal interests and a passion for life.

Admission Details

Their admissions process is designed to identify how we can nurture and support your daughter to achieve her ambitions and goals. The majority of girls join School in September, at the start of the academic year. They do consider entries throughout the year if circumstances need. They recommend formal registration is submitted by the Autumn term preceding your daughter’s intended enrolment date. They accept pupils in all year groups in MSJ Prep. The main entry points for MSJ Seniors are 11+ (Year 7) and 13+ (Year 9). For MSJ Sixth Form we welcome students in Year 12. If places are available, they do accept girls into Year 8 and Year 10. The admissions journey usually begins with a visit to School. They recommend you join for an Open Event or arrange a Personal Visit. A visit to School gives you an excellent opportunity to experience the School environment and ethos first-hand. You also have the opportunity to discuss your daughter’s education with our Headmistress, Mrs Olivera Raraty. They encourage girls to attend School for a taster day. A taster day gives your daughter the opportunity to experience a typical School day and meet her peers and teachers. For those looking to Board, they can arrange a sleepover in one of the Boarding Houses. Formal Registration is the next step of the Admissions process, the registration fee is payable at this stage. Registration provisionally reserves a place for your daughter at Malvern St James and allows her to sit Entrance Examinations. You can fill in and submit a Registration Form online to start the enrolment process. Please contact Admission for a hard copy of this document if preferred. Following completion of Registration, your daughter will be invited to sit the Entrance Exams. Entry to Malvern St James is based on the potential your daughter demonstrates in our assessments and a satisfactory confidential report, addressing both academic and pastoral matters from your daughter’s present school. Applicants are also interviewed by a senior member of staff, either in person or online.
