Lady Barn has built its fine reputation both locally and nationally through unrivalled academic success, innovative and inspiring teaching, superb pastoral care, extensive outdoor and sporting opportunities and a thriving creative curriculum. Facilities

Early Years
The Early Years Department provides each and every child with a caring, supportive and fun start to their school life. The staff are a dedicated, experienced and supportive team who have expertise in delivering The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. They have a genuine love of teaching young children and they strive to provide them with a caring, happy, fun, secure and nurturing environment in which they can thrive.

Years 1 and 2
Lady Barn’s 5 to 7-year-olds are housed in the Richard Stone building. Throughout our Infant Department, our specialist team ensure that the pupils have the tools to embrace their learning with confidence. To facilitate a smooth transition from Reception into Year 1, our staff collaborate closely with the Early Years Department, with a strong focus on pastoral care and exploration to nurture confidence, self-esteem, and an enquiring mind. The dynamic curriculum is delivered through carefully planned continuous provision in the newly refurbished, bespoke learning areas. The continuous provision opportunities are linked to various areas of the classroom and are available for the children to access every day, enabling children to learn independently without the need of constant adult intervention.

Year 3 and 4
Years 3 and 4 make up the fantastic Lower Junior department, with 3 mixed ability classes in each year group. They have a strong focus on continuing to develop each child’s education, whilst offering them a wide range of extra-curricular activities to enhance their overall development and skill-set, ensuring our pupils can grow in well-rounded, independent individuals who show the school values of resilience, teamwork, creativity, honesty, respect and kindness in all they do.

Years 5 and 6
The Upper Junior Department (Years 5 & 6) is an exciting and vibrant place where children and teachers share a love of learning. The achievements and aspirations of all the children are placed at the centre of everything we plan and do. The pupils are prepared thoroughly for the move to senior schools by being given greater independence within a caring and supportive environment. The departmental team consists of a hugely committed and skilled team of teachers. They are fortunate to have teachers with a passion for teaching children and their subjects. There are six form teachers who lead children through Years 5 and 6 in a two-year cycle.
