Holland House School is Independent Primary school in Barnet for kids aged 5 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )
Choosing the right school for your child can be a stressful process, the responsibility of “getting it right” weighing heavily on the minds of many families. Thus, on behalf of the pupils, staff and Governors, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our website and to give some insight into life at Holland House. They are a small, Independent school with huge character! Holland House pupils are characterized by their enthusiasm, vitality, confidence & polite-respectfulness. They are articulate, bright and show a keen interest in the world around them. The well-being of our pupils is at the heart of everything do; our ethos is to develop happy, confident children who value their education and take pride and responsibility for their own learning and behaviour. Through the “4 Pillars of Holland House” which are the moral, intellectual, civic and performance virtues, our dedicated teachers strive to develop every aspect of the child, encouraging both leadership and teamwork whilst giving all children the confidence to speak up and articulate their views. We encourage a growth mindset across the school where children learn to embrace challenge and understand that making mistakes is a vital part of the learning process and nothing of which to be ashamed.
Pre-Prep
Children primarily join Holland House Pre-Prep in the Reception Year at age 4. They are a one form entry school with an optimum of 22 children per class. All three classes have their own teacher and we have two teaching assistants dedicated to the Pre-Prep; one in the Reception Class and the other working within Year 1 and Year 2.Both the Reception Class and the Year 1 Class are housed on the ground floor giving both year groups direct access to outside spaces throughout the day. The Year 2 Class has a central position on the first floor of the building, in a light and airy room that gives ease of access to all school facilities.
Prep
The Prep School is for pupils aged 7-11 years. The transition into the Prep School for pupils transferring from Year 2 to Year 3 is smooth and natural. There are sometimes a few additional places available in Year 3 or Year 4 for external candidates and the children that join at this stage soon become fully involved in school life and settled into routines.Prep pupils are encouraged to do their very best whilst learning to become responsible and caring members of the school community. They are encouraged to become inquisitive and independent learners and to make the most of every opportunity.
