Admission Details

Nursery: The first stage is a Nursery visit. This gives you and your child the opportunity to familiarise yourselves with the environment, routine and Nursery life. Towards the end of this visit they warmly invite parents to discuss with Nursery Leader any aspirations or worries they may have for their child starting their time in Nursery. The second step is a taster session. Children are invited to come in for a taster session. Parents leave the children at Nursery for the first time (for about an hour) where they will join in with daily activities and play alongside the other children.

Pre-prep: For children joining Pre-Prep, they invite them to have a taster day where they will be ‘buddied up’ with two children in their year group. Taster days provide a fantastic experience of what life at HCS is like and children thoroughly enjoy their time. For new joiners into Reception, there is the opportunity to explore Reception setting with your child and meet staff at the Stay & Play sessions which are held in the Autumn term, or during Reception Taster Afternoon in the Spring term.

Junior: For children joining the Junior School, they invite them to have two consecutive taster days where they will be ‘buddied up’ with two children in their year group. Taster days provide a fantastic experience of what life at HCS is like and children thoroughly enjoy their time. The taster days will also include informal assessments in English and Maths.

Senior: You will receive an invitation for your child to attend an interview and entrance examination. These usually take place in January. You will also receive details of the scholarship application process which may include an assessment, audition or interview.
