Description

Corpus Christi RC Primary School, Brixton Hill is a State Primary School for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - co educational )

The whole school community - children, parents, staff and governors - is justifiably very proud of our school and its successes. These successes are evident both in the academic standards achieved and in the excellent curriculum on offer to the children. They aim to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment in which each child can thrive and develop their own interests and talents. Active participation from families in this process is essential, which is why they place such an emphasis on working in partnership with parents and carers. At Corpus Christi School the first priority is to the children, so that they receive a high quality education where enjoyment and enrichment are at the core of their learning experience. They aim to ensure that they have a love of learning for life as well as helping them to grow into confident and well-rounded individuals. The values and ethos have been devised by the whole school community, including staff, governors, parents and children, and are based on the idea of the school community being part of a FAMILY (faith, aspiration, motivation, independence, love, you are unique). These key values reflect those elements special to a Corpus Christi child.

Curriculum
At Corpus Christi they deliver a broad and balanced curriculum, which is based around a variety of topics throughout the academic year. All foundation subjects are taught around a specific theme, which is in line with the National Curriculum; links are continually made to the core subjects.“The curriculum is exceptional because it provides captivating and exciting learning opportunities which engage and motivate pupils. Links between subjects support pupils’ wider understanding and creative links are made across topics.”As a school, they continually review our provision and respond to local and national events, enabling the children to gain a greater understanding of the wider world. Most recently, the children have explored, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Centenary of World War I and the Olympics. As a school, they believe the children respond well to the topic based approach. They are provided with opportunities to raise questions, which encourages them to become inquisitive learners. The rich and vibrant curriculum promotes a love of learning.

Special Education Needs
At Corpus Christi, we strive to remove barriers to learning and participation, provide an education that is appropriate to pupils’ needs, and promote high standards and the fulfilment of potential for all pupils, including those with SEND. They aim to work in partnership with parents to and ensure that children with SEND are challenged and supported. The inclusion of children with SEND in the whole life of the school is very important to us.Pupils with special educational needs are supported and extended first and foremost by their class teacher. All teachers are teachers of children with special educational needs and we firmly believe that high quality teaching for pupils with SEND is high quality teaching for all.

Educational Enrichment
There are a number of ways in which we enhance the children's learning experiences at Corpus Christi School. There are many opportunities for parents to accompany them on day visits and they welcome family members into school to share their skills, interests and talents. Parents will be asked to make an annual contribution per child towards the cost of enrichment activities. The school will subsidise this payment, in order to provide a range of educational visits and workshops within school.  At Corpus Christi School they use ParentPay to collect this payment.

The annual Sports Day takes place on grounds owned by Dulwich College. All children participate in running and novelty races; alongisde a carousel of team activites within their Houses.
