Welcome to Churston Ferrers Grammar School, one of only two co-educational grammar schools in the South West of England. Churston has a long standing reputation for combining academic excellence with outstanding personal development and pastoral care. They believe that in a great school, academic excellence and personal development go together. Students who join Churston enjoy the academic rigour of a selective education, but they also enjoy the additional challenges offered by our extensive enrichment programme. We are fortunate to educate some of the most academically able students in the region
Sixth Form
Starting Sixth Form is an exciting and challenging stage in your education as you are able to choose the subjects you wish to study and you will begin to consider the possible career path you will follow. As you potentially prepare for university or the world of work your choice of subjects is therefore important and we are willing to help and advise you in making this important decision.
Clubs, Sports and Activities
What goes on outside lessons is vital for students’ personal development. They have plenty of opportunities to tempt everyone, whatever their interests, from school plays to sporting fixtures, concerts to foreign trips. And of course the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
Selection Criteria: Selective
To gain a place in Year 7 at the start of the academic year students need to have taken the 11+ examinations. The same tests are set by each of the selective schools in Torbay and are scheduled at the same time – so the scores achieved can be shared between schools when necessary.
