Bronte School is Independent Primary school in Kent for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )
All they offer here at Bronte School is a source of great pride for me and for my colleagues: a very special combination of academic rigour and a family-orientated, personal approach. They emphasise good learning, enquiry and discovery in all areas: English and mathematics (the core subjects), humanities, languages, music, the performing and visual arts, science and sport. In pastoral care, they get to know and nurture each individual boy and girl, to ensure that talents and interests are fostered, and achievements celebrated.
Curriculum
The curriculum is designed to meet the individual needs of each child. It is intended, with academic excellence in the forefront, to challenge and extend at all levels. General and specific learning support is provided whenever needed. The range of extra-curricular subjects, clubs and activities provides educational breadth and depth.
Sport
Games and PE sessions take place three times per week for the Upper School and once for the Lower School. Bronte is part of the “Take Pride” group of local schools, which organises regular matches and tournaments in sports such as cricket, handball, netball, squash, tag rugby and tennis. Internal house competitions (for the two houses, “Hood” and “Nelson”), take place in most sports, and are always hard fought. These culminate in the
annual sports day, at Cobham Hall, which takes place in June each year. It is a stylish and fun day out for all the family. The parents’ tug-of-war is always a particular attraction!
Music and Drama
Curriculum music is taught for one period per week for Years 1 to 6. Instrumental lessons in guitar, saxophone, piano, percussion and violin can be arranged through School Office. Ensembles practise once per week. There are performance opportunities at assemblies, the spring concert, and at other events such as the Bronte Festival. In drama, each class performs an assembly once per year. There are larger scale productions at Christmas and in the summer.
Art
Set in a light, spacious top floor studio, art classes are taught weekly from Reception to Year 4 and fortnightly to Years 5 and 6. The biennial art exhibition, at Mayfield School, takes place next year in July. Children’s work is displayed extensively around the school. The art department also creates murals and backdrops for other school events and activities.
