Careers Education (CEIAG)
Ruskin Mill Trust recognises that our students are on a pathway to self-leadership. As a holistic organisation we acknowledge and appreciate multiple intelligences such as emotional and aesthetic intelligence, and situational awareness. To assist in the student journey towards ‘self-generated conscious action’ our staff consciously role model positive relationships with other human beings as well as their environment. This role modelling, and the educational approach as a whole, contributes to our vision that each individual has the potential to shape their own future through experiencing meaningful relationships with universe, earth and people. This is the lens through which the following should be viewed.

Eyam Outdoor Classroom
The Eyam site sits above the village of Eyam at Highcliffe.  It’s an appropriate name, as we are 1300ft above sea level on the top of Eyam Edge.  This steep escarpment marks the division between the ‘White Peak’ and the ‘Dark Peak’ From a geological perspective the bedrock of the ‘White Peak’ is limestone, whereas the bedrock of the ‘Dark Peak’ is gritstone, a form of sandstone traditionally used to make grindstones. One of the joys of the Eyam site is the passing of the seasons and the differences that brings. Working and learning outdoors is the only way to connect with this changing environment.

Physical Education RMT Schools
Physical education (PE) gives all students opportunities to develop their physical skills and to apply those skills in different situations. It also enables personal and group achievements to be acknowledged. Movement and physical activities are an integral part of our schools’ day.Physical education at the RMT schools is delivered through non- traditional techniques. This is due to the complex needs of the students attending the school. However, at a minimum, every student has at least one session within their weekly timetable where physical activity is the primary aim.

Things to note

Therapies
Ruskin Mill Trust’s Practical Skills Therapeutic Education method embeds our therapeutic approach to human development throughout our children and young people’s day and residential sessions and activities. Brantwood also provides a more targeted therapeutic programme for the children and young people, in addition to the practical curriculum, through discrete therapy sessions and input from the therapy team into day and residential planning.
