General information: During the assessment process, consideration is given to the applicant’s entrance test results, interview, recent school reports, academic progress at current school, grade predictions and other strengths – whether inside or outside school life. This fits with the Box Hill School ethos that education is about nurturing the whole child. Please note that they expect all students within Years 7 – 9 to study two Modern Foreign Languages. Additionally, they require all students, irrespective of age, to be fully independent learners within the classroom.
Overseas: All international students will be interviewed either in person or via Skype and will normally be required to take tests set by Box Hill School in Maths and English (these can be taken remotely). They always welcome visits to Box Hill School from international applicants and their families when you will meet with one of the Senior Team and enjoy a guided tour of the school.
A small number of scholarships are available each year in the following categories: Academic, Drama, Music, Art, and Sport. Non-academic scholarships can be applied for by those entering in Years 7, 9 and the Sixth Form, and will cover a maximum of 10% of the pupil’s annual school fees.
Academic scholarships are offered on the basis of performance at entrance exams. All of the scholars are excellent role models inside and outside the classroom. They participate fully in the life of the school and act as ambassadors for the school at functions.
