Facilities

Prep
BCS Prep is a vibrant and thriving school, where children aged 2 to 11 years can enjoy a fulfilling educational experience. The curriculum is broad and varied and provides a wealth of opportunities for children to fully develop their individual strengths, talents and personalities. The school has an enviable reputation for excellence and is well known for being a modern, forward-thinking school that encourages active learning and creative thinking, personal endeavour and strong community spirit.

Nursery
For the youngest members of our school community, each day is a new adventure and our first task is to ensure that their learning journey begins in a safe and secure environment. With large and attractive classrooms and excellent facilities, the children can explore, discover and learn, as together they celebrate the joy of childhood. With an excellent staff to pupil ratio, the children receive a high level of personalised, individual care and attention. The curriculum is full of exciting activities to stimulate and fill the children with the desire to learn. They follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, where there are seven areas of Learning and Development covered.

Reception
The Reception year is the final year of the Early Years Foundation Stage and the first year of statutory schooling. Large, bright and well resourced classrooms and outdoor learning areas provide wonderful spaces in which to learn and grow. The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum continues, and there is a balance of learning through play and through adult-led tasks. Reception teachers continue to follow the children’s interests when planning activities. Learning takes place in both structured and unstructured learning situations, both inside and outside of the classroom.

Senior
BCS provides a nurturing, forward-thinking environment in which our students flourish both inside and outside the classroom in preparation to become the new generation of world shapers. The warm, welcoming environment and small size allows for strong and lasting relationships to be developed. The aim as a school is to help our children reach beyond their potential; both academically and through the highly respected enrichment programme. Pastoral care has always been highly esteemed, with our team specifically skilled to coach, support and develop our students through their senior school years.

Sixth Form
Sixth Form at BCS offers a world away from the typical school experience – this is the stage of education where our students are encouraged to grow and develop personally, academically and professionally with a greater independence and sense of responsibility. They recognise the desire for freedom is paramount for a Sixth Former and we adopt a friendly atmosphere based on mutual respect, individuality and support. Students are encouraged to manage their own workload; take ownership of their studies and education; and learn in partnership with teachers to benefit from their knowledge and enthusiasm for their subject. As a small Sixth Form of approximately 100 students, we are proud to be large enough to provide variety and challenge, but small enough for every student to be known individually.

Scholarships

Scholarship
BCS makes a limited number of scholarship awards per year to support and help develop talented individuals. These awards recognise excellence and potential in a range of areas, and carry clear expectations of involvement and requirements. Scholars are expected to work hard, contribute positively to the life of BCS and to set a good example to other pupils. Throughout our scholarship process, we like to put the emphasis on allowing the candidates an opportunity to demonstrate their talents and strengths. The value of each award is determined by the Headmaster and the Governors’ Finance Committee and will not normally exceed 25%, and are only available at point of entry to the school.
