Ashford School

Description

Ashford School is Independent Secondary school in Not applicable for kids aged 0 to 18 (Gender - 0 to 18 )

The leading schools across the world focus their efforts on just two simple areas: developing key personal characteristics, attitudes and behaviours, and optimising the achievements of their pupils across a wide range of fields beyond and including the academic. At Ashford School, the educational philosophy is based on a very simple assumption: if a pupil is happy and secure, they are more likely to be successful. As a result, our learning is underpinned by four key factors, namely Celebrating Individuality, Optimising Potential, Academic Rigour and Adventurous Learning. We believe that learning should be challenging, motivating and lead to a sense of fulfilment, which is why we strive to provide an inspiring environment that encourages growth and adventure so that our students can develop into all they are capable of being.

Facilities

Nursery
Bridge Nursery provides a home-away-from-home for the children. They pride ourselves on developing lifelong curiosity and confidence through play and adventure. They provide a warm and caring environment that welcomes the whole family and takes care of their needs. We offer outstanding care for children from 3 months to 3 years old. Children enjoy access to four main rooms, each designed specifically for a child’s age and developmental stage. The Bridge journey starts in the Ducklings Room for children from the age of 3 months to approximately 1 year old. The environment is equipped for the youngest children, with lots of age-appropriate toys and resources. For the children to thrive, they support them to develop in their prime areas with activities to stimulate their development of physical, emotional and language/communication skills. The main emphasis is on sensory experiences that stimulate their senses, covering the sense of touch, smell, taste, hearing and sight. From the first settling session, they strive to build a strong, emotional bond between a child and practitioner, which is based on mutual trust.

Prep
At Ashford Prep School, they believe that learning should be the ultimate adventure. Our aim is to provide an environment that inspires the minds and souls of those who are part of the warm School community. They are committed to providing an educational experience that recognises the right that every child has to be provided with diverse opportunities and skilful guidance to optimise their potential. This ensures that they not only become great pupils, but more importantly, great people.Within our School, we recognise the importance of the individuality in each child. We embrace each child as a distinct character in their own right. Everyone plays a vital role in ensuring that Ashford Prep is a happy environment in which to learn, play and grow. They cherish every child who is part of our School community and encourage them to take care of those that are around them. In turn, each child contributes to an overwhelmingly warm and positive atmosphere.

Senior
Each individual pupil here is valued as a person, not a product.  A pupil’s school days should be filled with learning experiences and opportunities, stretching and challenging them to step out of their comfort zones and constantly develop and refine their skills.  They encourage all our pupils to pursue and discover their passions and interests to a profound and exceptional standard.Every pupil should leave here at the end of their Sixth Form ready for the next phase of their lives, whatever path that may be.  Their journey through their Senior School years is their opportunity to experience and develop the characteristics and attributes that will stand them in the greatest stead for the rest of their lives.  They should leave here with a distinguished academic record, a clear moral compass and confident aspiration for their future.

Things to note

Co Curricular
By now, your child will be developing particular interests and exploring various skills. The co-curricular programme of activities gives them ample opportunity to take their interests further and to expand their skill set in preparation for the ever-changing world. There is always room to learn something new; this is not only important but essential to nurturing confident and capable young adults. All children are encouraged to be as involved in our co-curricular programme as possible, and therefore students in Years 7-9 take part in at least three activities per week. Further up the school our students tend to take a more flexible approach, and you will even see a few of our Sixth Formers setting up their own clubs and societies.

Sport
The sports programme is accessible to all and tailored to meet the aims of our pupils. We are proud to field competitive teams in all major team games, as well as swimming, biathlon, triathlon, athletics and tennis, although this is no more important than providing opportunities that will promote lifelong participation in sport. The role that competitive sport plays in developing character, confidence, resilience, teamwork and leadership is widely celebrated, as are the sporting achievements of our increasing number of pupils who compete at County, Regional and National level.

Music
The active and exciting musical life of Ashford School centres on Brake Hall and its environs, which include The Octagons (two octagon-shaped rehearsal and classroom spaces) and a number of individual and larger classrooms for our one-on-one and year group lessons.
