Alameda is a popular, oversubscribed middle school that serves the community of Ampthill and the surrounding areas. Set in picturesque surroundings, the school has excellent facilities which offer an inspiring learning environment. Teaching and learning are at the heart of what they do. SEND support at Alameda Middle School, Welcome to the SEND section of the Alameda school website. On this page you will find links to the SEND Local Offer (as per Central Bedfordshire Council’s guidance to all local schools), the SEND report and information about further services such as Parent and Young Person Partnership. At Alameda, our goal is to enable all pupils to be happy and successful and for some, this means accessing additional support. The support on offer is held in high regard by students, families and external agencies who they work closely with. We aim to ensure this is remains that case through close communication with families and a policy of sharing information with relevant parties e.g. feeder schools during transition from one school to another.
School Library
At Alameda Middle School they believe that reading for pleasure is crucial for improved literacy, broader knowledge and for the mental health benefits derived from the escapism. There is good evidence to show that young people who read for pleasure perform well at school.Pupils at Alameda have one half hour library lesson each week for browsing the books, newspapers and magazines, for exchanging books and group reading. The library is normally open before school, at break and lunchtime. They have a colourful and engaging online version of the library called Eclipse.net which allows pupils and parents to access catalogue from home. There are interesting features such as plot summaries, author interviews and recommendations and pupils can post their own reviews.
