EYFS
Children follow the Early Years Foundation stage curriculum from Nursery to Reception, which encompasses seven areas of learning. These are implemented via a holistic approach in order to maximise child initiation and to develop the whole child. Setting the foundation for learning and structure of school days ahead. Abercorn provides an environment where small classes and teacher support allow all of our children to flourish and be happy.
Lower School
During their time in Nursery, Pre-Reception, Reception and Year 1, our dedicated teaching staff provide pupils with a solid educational start in a safe, happy and vibrant hub of learning. Our wonderful team nurture and value every child and are passionate about providing them all with an excellent start to their school life. We use the the Early Years Foundation stage curriculum throughout Nursery to Reception, and provide a seamless transition to the National Curriculum in Year 1, with a creative curriculum approach
Years 1-8
Abercorn School provides a rich and diverse curriculum which is both challenging and rewarding for every pupils and tailored to their personal academic needs. Learning extends beyond the classroom and pupils develop skills and confidence in a range of extra and cross curricular activities throughout the year. In addition to our specialist teaching team and subject specialists we are proud to provide robust EAL and learning support ensuring children who need a little extra help can access and enjoy an Abercorn education.

Things to note
Art
Art is important for children especially in early years. It supports creative thinking and imagination, hand and eye coordination, improves fine motor skills and builds social skills: sharing, waiting their turns, listening to others, helps children express themselves. Children have fun and form friendships in a welcoming and warm environment.
Construction
Construction club is a great way to explore imagination. It enhances creative and expressive development, encourages team work and problem solving, improves hand and eye coordination and social skills. It is fantastic for fine motor skills and mathematical thinking, develops planning skills and persistence and it’s loads of fun!
Sports
Mr Mahon's and Miss Klimkova's Sports Club provides encouragement and support for your child to build their confidence, motivation and skills in a variety of sports. These range from Dodgeball, Football, Hockey, Rounders, Basketball, Cricket and Tennis. This wide range of exciting skills and games not only develop agility, balance and co-ordination, but a wider sense of confidence, achievement and enthusiasm to try new things.
