We are an approved independent special school Key Stage 2 up to Secondary and post 16. All pupils have a Special Educational Need as their primary need, as well as sensory and nurturing needs. The whole curriculum is written to meet the aims of our pupils with SEN and they aim for each and every one of our pupils to achieve their potential. The students generally arrive with a history of poor attendance, placement gaps and exclusions from school and have therefore missed (often hugely significant) periods of education. The job is a significant challenge but one that can be overcome and is successfully faced with enthusiasm and energy.

All staff at 3 Dimensions School are committed to delivering a holistic and individualised curriculum that is full of rich experiences for all. They want the pupils to be happy and feel a sense of belonging. The aim is for the pupils to acquire the skills and knowledge for resilience, to be friendly and able to build positive relationships and ultimately to access life and be successful in school and in their future in whatever way they choose.A typical school day will incorporate classroom-based lessons, life skills in the community and extra-curricular activities. They follow the National Curriculum objectives for all subjects, which are modified to meet pupils’ needs. Students are taught according to their ability, not age or Key Stage.

Clinical Therapy
As well as delivering the best possible education, they also have a clinical team who provide care and therapy to benefit the children and young people in the school. The therapeutic team consists of teachers, teaching assistants and external therapists who support the pupils with specific needs. They also have a Family Liaison Officer who works directly with the young people’s families and carers. The therapeutic team will work with them to develop strategies to overcome any anxieties, fears and barriers to help them be the best they can be.
