Discover our sensory toolkit, with shapes, colours and textures inspired by objects on display. This interactive experience is suitable for all ages and abilities and is designed for quiet reflection. 
  • Play: Be playful in our Medieval York: Capital of the North exhibition, dress up in costume and host a dinner party at the Medieval banquet table or why not build your own castle in our activity corner. This accessible space invites all ages and abilities to interact and enjoy play. 
  • Create: Unleash your creativity at the Yorkshire Museum, find our Create table with colouring activity in our Dinosaur Country Gallery. Accessible for all ages and abilities, this space is designed for creative exploration. 
  • Photography: Photography for personal use is allowed around the museum, but there may be restrictions during special exhibitions and the use of tripods may be restricted when busy.

  • Parking: The nearest car park is on Marygate, which has 350 car parking spaces and Blue Badge parking.
  • Toilets: Toilets are available on the lower ground floor. There is an accessible, gender neutral toilet on this floor. There are baby changing facilities in the accessible toilets.
  • Food & Drinks: There is no café in the Museum itself but we do have CIAO, in the Gardens, providing toasties, sandwiches, award winning scooped ice cream and hot and cold drinks.
