Rainbows Ceramics Painting Studio in York is an award-winning paint-your-own pottery studio set in the heart of the city. It’s a fun and relaxing space where people of all ages can enjoy getting creative. Walk-ins are welcome (except for groups of 6+), and there’s even a Paint at Home Pottery option for those who prefer to create from home.

Visitors can choose from a large selection of ceramics, including mugs, plates, piggy banks, clocks, and flower pots. Families can also capture memories with baby prints (from £14), or book clay imprints and plaster outprints (£75 each), beautifully framed as keepsakes. Pottery Painting: Select the item you would like to paint. We stock a large range of unfinished ceramics known as ‘Bisque’. Items include plates, mugs, flower pots, clocks, piggy banks, plaques and many other children’s and adult items. Simply think of a design and get creating! We have many samples and books for inspiration. Plus we have a large selection of easy to use stamps and stencils. All our paints are water based and non-toxic so suitable for all ages.
Baby Prints: Print your baby’s footprint on ceramics and create a perfect keepsake. Prices start from just £14. We are walk ins only but please come along mid week if you are able as the studio is much quieter and we can assist.
Clay Imprints: These are 3D impressions in to wet clay. Price is £75 which includes a choice of colour plus a solid wood 9″ sq box frame in Ash or White. Please call if you require larger sizes. Booking is required.
Plaster Outprints: These are raised outprints in plaster, perfect for younger babies. Price is £75 for a Bronze, Silver or Natural finish plus a solid wood 9″ sq box frame in Ash or White. Please call if you require larger sizes. Booking is required.

Cupcakes Party £22.00pp: Our Cupcake Party package is perfect for all ages. This party package consists of a choice of Cupcake Box or Ice Cream Box (subject to availability). We’ll supply the music and the fun – you simply bring the kids!
Animals Party £16.00pp: ‘Party Animals’ is our most popular party package – it is suitable for all ages and there is a great range of cute ceramic animals to choose from. We’ll supply the music and the fun – you simply bring the kids!
Letters Party £18.00pp: These are our fabulous 5” free standing Letters. This is a great mid price range party suitable for all ages. These are perfect for use with our pens and stamps to make beautiful decorative patterns.
Mugs, Plates & Bowls £16.00pp: For those of you who prefer to go mad with the stamps or create your own design then this party is for you! You have a choice of bowl, regular mug or small plate.
Takeaway Party £14.00pp: Paint at home, then return to us for firing! Simply order online from our shop it’s really easy. Select your party items, choose your colours and we will provide all the pallets and brushes so you can have painty fun at home.

We are really easy to find, just a 2 minute walk from York Minster and just across the road from York Art Gallery. For drivers there is Bootham Row pay and display car park behind the studio or the larger Marygate car park 5mins away. Rainbows is also served by great public transport and the Park and Ride service.
