  • Garden: Entry is free to the varied 19th-century-designed gardens, with areas dedicated to colour, scent and quiet contemplation, plus the Meadow for nature spotting.

  • Second-hand Bookshop: Visit the East Pavilion to delve into the shelves of our restocked bookshop and take your pick from a range of preloved titles. Pull up a seat and stay a while; a lovely place to relax and enjoy your refreshments from the Uppark kiosk.
  • Walks: Enjoy our Meadow Walk with views across the South Downs, or follow a longer walk that makes use of local rights of way routes.
  • The house at Uppark: This article takes you on a whistle-stop tour of the many and varied parts of the mansion at Uppark, decorated with antique furniture, ornaments and paintings. To experience the real thing, book one of our expert guided tours, and get a fascinating insight into 18th-century life in a fine country house for those both above and below stairs.
  • The garden at Uppark: Free to visit, the intimate and colourful gardens at Uppark offer a variety of different spaces and experiences, including a scented garden, amphitheatre, architectural flourishes and panoramic views across the South Downs.
  • Explore the grounds at Uppark: The grounds at Uppark are free to visit. Come for the views over the South Downs, a range of walking options and a chance to spot some wildlife. Check out the new signage at Visitor Reception, describing four walks to enjoy.
  • Family-friendly things to do at Uppark: Bring the whole family along for an adventure at Uppark. Look out for wildlife on a nature walk around the meadow, enjoy a picnic with spectacular views or try flying your kite on the breeze over the South Downs.                                

Facilities

  • Parking: Free for National Trust Members Chargeable to non-National Trust Members 4 electric vehicle charging points are now available. Drivers will require their own cables to charge.
  • Food & Drinks: Café - Overlooking the stunning South Downs and with views as far as the Solent, enjoy light bites and a brew with a spectacular view!
  • Toilet: Toilets are available at Visitor Reception or in the Tunnels (via the café seating area). Our accessible toilet is inside our Second-Hand bookshop. Baby changing is available in all our toilets except those by Visitor Reception.
  • Dogs allowed: Dogs are allowed everywhere on site on short leads except the tunnels and main house. Assistance dogs are permitted throughout the site.

  • By road: 5 miles south-east of Petersfield on B2146, 1½ miles south of South Harting.
  • Cycling: Cycle parking is available in the car park, or bikes are welcome in the gardens once dismounted. Uppark House and Garden is located in beautiful countryside ideal for more experienced cyclists. It is close to both the South Downs Way and King Alfreds Way, two popular off-road cycling routes.   • On foot: South Downs Way within ¾ mile, nearest point 47.
  • By bus: Route 54 service. From Monday to Saturday, bus stop directly outside North Drive gates. We're also a part of the West Sussex County Council Book-a-Bus partnership, a flexible and on-demand bus service.
  • By train: Petersfield 5½ miles.
