More Than Just a Train Ride - Our lovingly restored steam and diesel trains run from spring through to late autumn, with most services on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, weekends and bank holidays. Start your journey at Cheltenham, Winchcombe, Toddington or Broadway – and hop on and off along the line as you explore.

Heritage & History at Every Stop: Each of our stations tells its own story. From the lovingly recreated Broadway Station, built entirely by volunteers in authentic Great Western style, to the operational hub at Toddington, where locomotives are restored and maintained, history runs through everything we do.
The Discovery Coach & Model Railways: At Winchcombe Station, our Discovery Coach offers an engaging look at the history of the GWSR, with exhibits and models showing how the railway came back to life.
Wildlife Along the Line: As the train winds its way through the rolling Cotswold countryside, keep an eye out for the local wildlife that makes our railway so special. Buzzards and red kites soar overhead, rabbits dart through the hedgerows, and in the quieter stretches, you might even spot deer grazing in the fields.
Relax and Explore: Each of our stations offers something different to explore - from tearooms serving fresh cakes and coffee to peaceful picnic spots and classic photo opportunities. Many of our visitors enjoy breaking up their journey, stepping off to watch the engines run round, or simply soaking up the sights, sounds, and smells of steam travel.
Get Up Close to our Locomotives: Beyond the polished brass and rhythmic click of the rails lies the true heart of our railway: the locomotives themselves. As you stand on the platforms, you can feel the heat radiating from a steam firebox or hear the powerful, rhythmic thrum of a vintage diesel engine. It is a sensory experience like no other—the scent of hot oil and coal smoke, the hiss of safety valves, and the deep growl of mid-century engineering that once transformed Britain's rail network.

Parking: Parking available at our main stations. Main Stations: Toddington, Winchcombe, Broadway and Cheltenham Race Course are the easiest stations for visitors with mobility needs. Rural Halts: Smaller halts such as Gotherington and Hayles Abbey Halt have limited access and may not be suitable for all visitors.
Food & Drinks: A day on the railway works up an appetite, and we’ve got plenty of spots to enjoy a drink, a bite to eat, or a well-earned slice of cake. Each of our main stations has its own character and its own café or refreshment kiosk offering everything from light lunches and freshly made sandwiches to ice creams, hot drinks, and classic railway treats.
Toilets: Fully accessible toilets are available at all four of our main stations (Broadway, Toddington, Winchcombe, and Cheltenham Race Course). Please note that there are no toilet facilities at Gotherington or Hayles Abbey Halt.
Dogs: Registered assistance dogs are welcome on the railway and at our stations, and at no extra charge.

Please park in the sign-posted Pay and Display car park located on the opposite side of the road from the station driveway. Toddington (GL54 5DT) - Our main hub and a popular starting point with our largest free car park.
By Bus: To Cheltenham Race Course: Regular services run from Cheltenham town centre and the mainline station. Please note that the bus stop is a 15-minute walk from our station.
By Train:The nearest mainline station is Cheltenham Spa, which has regular services from Birmingham, Bristol, London, and beyond. To reach our Cheltenham Race Course Station from there.
Foot or by Bike: Several of our stations are directly accessible via beautiful local footpaths and cycle routes, making the railway a perfect addition to a day out in the Cotswold countryside.
