Relax and unwind in the beautiful green space; bring the family to enjoy facilities including play areas, a maze and pets' corner; get active with our walking and jogging routes as well as bowling greens, tennis and basketball facilities or simply enjoy lunch and a hot drink in the stunning surroundings of Saltwell Towers.
- Saltwell Towers: In the heart of the park is the superb Gothic mansion sympathetically restored to its former Victorian glory to provide a well-equipped visitor centre, tearoom and public toilets. Find out more about what Saltwell Towers has to offer.
- For the family: There's lots of things to see and do for the family. As well as our magical dene and large picnic area, the park is also home to two play areas (suitable for toddlers upwards), Pet's Corner with its two aviaries and rabbits and guinea pigs and the William Wailes maze.
- For the active: From jogging and walking routes through to three bowling greens and tennis and basketball courts, there's lots of ways to get active in the park all year round. Walkers are spoilt for choice with many different routes around the park and a free health walk every Tuesday. There's also a dedicated dog walking enclosure.
- For gardeners: Saltwell Park is a great spot for horticulture lovers with flowers for every season. Blossoming French Marigolds, Roses and Phlomis in spring and summer, charming Sedum in autumn, and magical Silverdust in winter. Both the rose garden and the dene offer peaceful havens at the heart of the park.
- For nature lovers: Birds have always been important to Saltwell Park. For generations families have gathered at the lake for the enjoyment of feeding the ducks. Over 70 species of birds have been recorded in the Park - ranging from wildfowl like large mute swans, Canada and barnacle geese to resident birds include blackbirds, blue tits and robins.
- For beekeepers and enthusiasts : Tyneside Beekeepers Association (TBKA) offer advice and training on beekeeping, gardening for honeybees and pollinators and much more!

- Boating lake: The lake is a refuge for wildlife. In the summer, the lake comes alive with pedalos, rowing boats and inflatables available to hire. The park also has its own model boat club which meets every Saturday and Sunday mornings as well as Wednesday from noon in the summer.
