Rotunda Museum, a Warm Welcome to the Rotunda – the Museum of Coastal Heritage and Geology, located right on the wonderful Yorkshire coast. We’ve got a great view of the sea!

When you visit you can also learn about fossils, the remarkable 11,000-year-old artefacts from our Star Carr Collection, as well as coming face to face with the wonderful creatures which once called Yorkshire home, in the Ancient Seas Gallery.

Woodend and The Sitwell Family: Woodend is a distinctive Grade II listed marine villa, built in 1835 for the civil engineer, George Knowles. The house overlooks the Valley Gardens which lead towards Scarborough South Bay and the foreshore.

Facilities

Parking: There is no car parking on site at the Rotunda Museum. Accessible parking for Blue Badge holders is on Valley Road, 2 minutes walk away. South Bay underground car park is a pay and display car park close to the Rotunda Museum. The Palm Court Car Park is a multi-storey, pay and display car park, 5 minutes walk away. On street pay and display parking is available on Valley Road and The Crescent. There are two park and ride services in Scarborough.
Toilets and baby changing: There are separate female and male toilets at the Rotunda. There is an accessible toilet with baby change facilities.
Dogs: Well behaved dogs, kept on a lead throughout your visit, are welcome in the Rotunda Museum.
