Welcome to Robin Hood's Bay is a picturesque old fishing village on the Heritage Coast of the North York Moors. It is a fantastic place for adults and children alike with a beautiful family (and dog !) friendly sandy beach, as well as rock pools to explore and ancient fossils to discover.  

Wandering through its narrow, twisting cobbled streets and alleyways, you can easily imagine the sailors and fishermen, smugglers and press gangs that walked these streets hundreds of years ago. Today it is a vibrant village, with a wide range of cafes, pubs, restaurants, small shops and places to explore, as well as many stunning coastal and country walks, cycle-paths and bridleways right on the doorstep.

  • Parking: Visitor parking is all at the top of the steep hill which leads down to the lower part of the village. There are 2 public car parks, a small one just before the steep hill to the old village, and a much bigger one that used to be the old railway station.
  • Food & Drinks: Robin Hood's Bay has a great selection of restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars to choose from, all serving excellent food and when possible using locally caught seafood and local produce.  And of course our fish and chips which are just fab! 
  • Dogs: Robin Hood’s Bay beach is dog friendly all year round, keeping the tails are always wagging.

  • By Bus: There is a regular bus service from Scarborough through to Middlesborough which calls at Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby and Runswick Bay on the way. 
  • By Car: If you are planning on coming by car, essentially if coming from either North, South or West, once on the A171 follow signs for Whitby then Robin Hoods Bay is signposted.
  • By Train: Trains from the South and West come in to Scarborough Station with changes from the South generally at York or Leeds. Trains from the North come in to Whitby Station.
