Features

  • Horse Riding: Always a friendly welcome awaits every visitor at Newton Equestrian Centre in Cornwall a destination offering horse riding lessons, hacks, and self-catering accommodation for all abilities and ages.
  • Riding Lessons: Available for all levels of experience, from complete novices to highly experienced riders. Qualified instructors ensure every rider whether new, returning after a break, or looking to advance skills can ride with confidence and enjoyment. Lessons are available individually or in groups, and booking is essential.
    • Complete Beginner: Riders who have never ridden before, are nervous, or have ridden only a little time ago. If a child is a complete beginner, a parent or adult from the group must lead the pony during the entire lesson or hack. Staff provide guidance on how to lead and offer assistance if needed. Adults must arrange their own leader if nervous, as staff do not lead adult riders.
    • Beginner: Riders who can mount with a little assistance and manage walk and trot independently.
    • Novice: Riders who can walk, trot, and canter independently within the arena.
    • Intermediate: Riders who can mount unaided, adjust girth and stirrups, and show a balanced seat in walk, trot, canter, and small jumps. Intermediate riders are generally those riding regularly, such as weekly.
    • Advanced: Riders who have experience in cross-country, eventing, showjumping, dressage, or professional instruction.
    • Riders wishing to take part in Walk, Trot, Canter Hacks or Beach Rides must be at least of Intermediate level. Intermediate riders must demonstrate full control able to mount unaided, adjust tack, hold reins correctly, and maintain a secure seat without holding the mane or saddle.
    • A full riding assessment takes place within the allocated hack or beach ride time. Riders unable to demonstrate intermediate ability will not continue the ride, and no refund will be given. This policy ensures the safety of all riders, horses, staff, and the general public, in compliance with insurance and legal requirements. Anyone unsure of riding level is encouraged to book a lesson prior to a hack or beach ride. All hacks vary slightly in duration due to differing horse paces, so return times may be a little earlier or later than scheduled.
