Features

  • Logie Estate: Logie Estate is in the beautiful Findhorn Valley near the town of Forres. Like many estates, Logie Estate is a multi-faceted business involving farming, forestry, housing, commercial premises, tourism and recreation. Logie Estate offers opportunities for salmon fishing on the River Findhorn or enjoy a walk by the river or a stroll through Logie House Gardens.
  • Fishing: Scotland is the home of salmon fishing, famed for its beautiful rivers and magnificent scenery and salmon fishing on the River Findhorn at Logie is no exception. The estate offers interesting and exciting fishing on the beautiful River Findhorn, covering a total of 3.25 miles of the river with the downstream limit being about 9.5 miles from the river mouth.
  • Art Gallery: Discover contemporary Scottish art at Logie Steading Art Gallery, located in the beautiful Findhgorn Valley near Forres in Moray. Showcasing work from over 100 artists, the gallery features  paintings, sculpture, pottery, bronzes, glass, prints, jewellery, textiles and artists’ cards – all carefully curated to be approachable, affordable and inspiring.
  • Heritage Centre: The River Findhorn Heritage Centre provides a wealth of information about life around the River Findhorn and, in particular, the legend of Randolph’s Leap and that of the Wolf of Badenoch who lived for some years in the Lochindorb castle.
  • Play Park: The grassy playpark has been designed for twirling, balancing, climbing and whirling and generally letting off steam. There are well-placed benches and tables and it also makes a lovely setting for a family picnic. The start of many of the River Walks is at the playpark where you will find a helpful signboard directing you along the route and providing information about what you will find as you go. The scenery is really spectacular and well worth a wander.
  • Logie House Garden: Logie House originates from the seventeenth century since when it has evolved and grown. Similarly the garden has changed over the centuries. In the early twentieth century there was a formal flower garden with a small private golf course on the big lawn and on the slopes down towards the river. Most of what you see now has been planted since then when the decision was made to grow more shrubs, trees and perennials with year-round interest.
  • A Walk from Logie Steading to Sluie: Travelling downstream, the walk meanders through Logie Estate for about 2 miles before continuing onto Moray Estate. While the section on Logie land is out and back, the latter section offers a loop where cliff paths and stunning views await. Taking around 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on your speed and the route you choose, the walk consists of some fairly flat fire roads alongside some more undulating river paths with gentle inclines and a few muddy sections.
  • A Walk from Logie Steading to Randolph’s Leap: This is probably the most popular walk taken by visitors to Logie Steading. It’s a nice there-and-back, with some variation possible in the return route, a good length of walk – the kind where you feel you’ve stretched your legs just about enough to deserve that cake when you get back, but not so long you wish you brought one of those little backpacks with what my family used to call ’emergency rations’ (most ’emergencies’ involved tucking into the chocolate stash round about corner 3 of any given walk).

Facilities

  • Parking: Logie Steading has ample free parking. We have a number of disabled spaces located close to both the Steading or gardens and an electric vehicle charger.
  • Farm and Garden Shop: Our Farm and Garden Shop offers our own locally produced meat, seasonal hardy plants, carefully selected gardening tools and lots of useful gifts – things we all believe in, and use ourselves!
  • Food & Drinks: The café owned by Mags and Robbie Cairns is bright and friendly serving delicious homemade food, set in the stunning location of Logie Steading. Logie Steading is a special place for any visitor with endless things to see and do.
